Chi sono
I love to experience new things, which is why traveling has made its way into my heart. Currently, I am researching on a Fulbright year in Jena, Germany, and I would like to see as much of Europe as possible!
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
I'm a member of Couchsurfing, because throughout my travels I have found it so much more enjoyable and rewarding to share the trip with other people, especially those already living in the city.
Interessi
I'm a pretty active fellow I guess I would say. I like to play sports, hike, fish, run, and work outside. I also really enjoy camping, hammocking, and sitting around a campfire. And, like the rest of you Couchsurfers, I love to travel.

Musica, film e libri
I am a big fan of folk music. I love listening to anything with a guitar, fiddle/violin, and/or banjo. With that, my favorite band is Mumford and Sons. As for movies, I'm pretty easy to please. As long as it's not a really, really bad movie, then I am usually entertained. Although, I will say that I have a special place in my heart for Disney movies and the Princess Bride.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
One weekend, a couple of friends and I drove to San Jacinto, a mountain in southern California, to hike up to the peak. What makes the hike tough, is that it starts from almost sea level (479ft/146m) and finishes almost 2 miles higher at elevation (10,834ft/3302m). For me, this was a challenge that I couldn't turn down. In hindsight, we all probably should have done some sort of altitude training beforehand as we all actually lived in Malibu...which is at sea level, so our bodies were not acclimated to any sort of eleveation. Regardless, we took on the challenge after buying some crampons from REI. We slept overnight in the car, downed a couple Red Bulls, and began hiking from Palm Springs before the sun arose. One of the most interesting things that caught my attention during the hike, was the change in scenery. With such a quick change in elevation, you end up traveling through multiple ecological zones, from desert to snowy pine forest. Since I'm a biologist, I'm allowed to geek out about such things. When we finished the trek, we calculated it out to have been around a 22 mile hike in total. It was an incredible experience, and I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area to at least take the gondola up to the top of the mountain if they don't like to hike.
