The Gunn & Rose Volunteer Tour is about transforming communities around the world, one person at a time. It is about being the change we want to see in the world. It is about inspiring human beings to get out and actively contribute to their communities.

ABOUT ME

From a very young age I went out of my way to help people, and took pride in doing things for other people, and my payback was seeing them be happy with what I had done. A few years ago I began a journey of Professional and Personal Growth, and I have since been coaching people and inspired them to go after their dreams, no matter what they were. In February 2015 I decided it was time to go after my own dream and that is when I created the “Gunn & Rose Contribution Tour”.

Professionally, I have over 20 years of experience in sales, for national and international corporations, notably in the manufacturing and the financial sectors. I also had a successful renovations business for the last 3 years. I am a great leader, and I am a natural when it comes to meeting people and creating relationships.

On August 3rd 2015, I left my home town of St-Philippe, (Montreal) QC, and since then, I have been riding all over North America on a bicycle, with my dog Rose in a children trailer. The tour will take approximately 16 months, and travel distance will be more than 10,000 miles. While on tour, I alternate riding days, and volunteering days, across United States and Canada. I plan to visit over 350 communities, schools, and various social gatherings. My mission is to inspire people to TAKE ACTION and give time to their own communities. My experience as a coach has proven me that volunteering and giving time is often more rewarding to the person giving than to the person getting, and when someone experiences that, they usually want to keep giving! So my hope is not only to touch and inspire the people I meet, but also to create a movement of free and loving contribution around the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In order for my project to move forward, I need a place to sleep in different towns or cities every night for 16 months. I find a lot of places thru friends of friends, Facebook, referals from people where I stay, and I complete with Couchsurfing and Warmshowers when needed.

Interests

Anything outdoors! My two main activities are road cycling in the summer and alpine skiing in the winter, and I do a lot of other stuff whenever I have the time and money! Some of the other things I do: hiking, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking, running, swimming, etc... Interested in healthy living and leaving a better planet for future generations. With this journey, I am doing what I love most which is inspire people. I visit a lot of schools and go speak with the students about the importance of contributing to their communities. WHen I finish my tour, I want to continue this path and travel the world as a Motivational, Inspirational Speaker.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I closed my renovations business in the Montreal area before taking on this journey, so I am a good handy-man, and will be able to help around the house while I am there.
I am also a great sous-chef in the kitchen, so I can help getting the meals ready.
And I am a life coach, with varied background, so we can chat about a lot of things!
