Overview
About Me
Between February 2016 and December 2018, from Southern CA, I'm took a three-year road trip throughout the country to cook a dinner party in every state. I called it Le Mobile Feast (you can visit it at www.lemobilefeast.com). I joined Couchsurfing for this project. At the moment, I'm writing a book about our country and its people based on the stories that I collected on that journey.
More than a culinary excursion, LMF is an oral history project. When I meet intriguing people or visit interesting places, I will share their stories on LMF's blog. The culmination of this project is a book that celebrates the people of this country, based on the stories we share with one another.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'll be on the road and relying on hosts to keep me in a particular area. My current list of hosts include friends throughout the country, but I look forward to meeting new people as well. I figured the Couchsurfing community would be a good place to look for them.
I'm a low-maintenance guest. Ideally, I'll be able to exercise in the morning (run or a long walk), write for 4-5 hours, and then cook dinner for my hosts. I'll have kitchen basics and even dinner settings with me, so presumably we can have fancy dinner on picnic grounds.
If I'm cooking just for us, then I'd happily get the groceries, if necessary. If we have a big dinner party, I'd appreciate it if you share the cost.
Interests
Writing, cooking, sharing stories, meeting people, and discussing: literature, politics, philosophy--you know, life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not sure if any of it is "amazing," but I've lived or worked in Vietnam, France, and South Africa, in addition to the United States. I've also been in the navy, taught in school, run a nonprofit, worked for a senator, and managed the supply chain for a manufacturing company.
I'm now trying my hand at writing, and it looks like the first book will be about this trip and the people I meet along the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have much to learn from everyone I meet and every place I visit.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some delicious home-cooked meals! And good conversations.
