About Me

I'm a German-speaking BMX racer from Colorado. My second home is Cologne, Germany.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people from new cultures, and who likes to travel completely alone?

Interests

When traveling, I like seeing the locals' perspectives on their home. I like to hear about local politics. I like riding bikes through cities I've never been to, getting lost, and stumbling upon experiences I never would've otherwise had. I like going to bars where drunk guys tell me in broken English about how great their soccer team is. I like going to concerts from a band that no one's ever heard about, and trying new things and foods I've never tried.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to everything from Colbie Caillat to J. Cole.

My favorite movie at the moment is The Discovery, starring the guy who played Marshall in How I Met Your Mother, which is definitely in my top 5 favorite TV shows.

I have a bit of a thing for Benedict Cumberbatch, so Sherlock and Doctor Strange are pretty much the pinnacles of entertainment for my nerdy self.

My favorite book is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I only started reading because I was looking for an actual guide to being a hitchhiker.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived 10 months as an exchange student in Cologne, Germany, and learned how to speak German in the process.

Teach, Learn, Share

I actually have a kind of passion for teaching. I've been coaching BMX for over 5 years now, and I produced the news for a semester at my college, which I kind of saw as a way to teach people about how messed up the world is.

I definitely have a passion for learning about other cultures, and I'm very active with the Rotary Youth Exchange program. As far as actually traveling to the places all my international friends are from, well, I'm waiting to win the lottery.

The knowledge I have to share is primarily about bikes and weed, as I'm from Colorado.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can be the token American for any event! I always pack a baseball cap and brightly-colored clothing, so if you don't see my backpack with the American flag on it, you still know that I'm American.

My finest abilities are:
Getting way too drunk after swearing that I can "hang"
Talking way too much about things no one cares about (especially American football and baseball)
Being accidentally racist
And saying stupid things in your native language to impress your friends.
