About Me

My hobbies are music, construction, Tai Chi and motorcycling/snowmobiling. For music and I play fiddle music for Contra Dancing and love to jam with other players or Old Time, Irish, and New England fiddle music. For construction I am in the process of renovating and 1830's farm house and barns. For motorcycling, I don't go as far as I used to, but I keep a dual sport Yamaha for local rides and in the winter you can find me out grooming snowmobile trails. For Tai Chi, I study the Yang style form including 108 solo form, the two person dance, and the weapons forms.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always thought when I travel, especially on my motorcycle, that it's a shame to stay at a hotel somewhere as I never meet anyone in the new towns I travel through. When I camp it's great as I do meet new people, but rainy nights can be a downer, so I love the thought of hooking up with new and interesting folks as I travel and couch surfing is the perfect way to do it.

Interests

I am a fiddler and contra dance caller and I love to jam with other players or Old Time, Irish, and New England fiddle music. I practice two forms of Tai Chi, traditional Yang style and also Tai Chi for Health forms by Dr. Lam. I finally retired in 2022 and spend most of my time working on my old farmhouse and gardens or playing music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Historical non fiction is what I read most. I also read a lot of health and exercise books as I believe in taking responsibility for one's personal health and in supporting local farmers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rebuilding an abandoned old farm house, still in process, is the toughest and most satisfying thing I have done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Tai Chi and Fiddle to beginners.
