About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking time to reset. In the US Southwest and heading to Oaxaca, Mexico for a few months. New sounds, languages, faces, and flavors.

I want to hear and share music with others. Local food and friendly faces keep me yearning to travel.

ABOUT ME

House Music makes me move. Music keeps me alive and well.

One of the most deep passions of the past few years of my life has been Permaculture. This is a system where people create living systems for people, plants and animals to live together in a holistic, healthy way that encourages peace and diversity for the future. This includes specifically local food, and working with plants. This past year I did an apprenticeship for 5 months where I got to work in a food forest, grow vegetables, make herbal teas, cook for our community, and live outside in a wall tent. Fun!

I also love bicycles. One of my favorite ways to travel is by bike. I've done a few long-distance bicycle tours and I highly recommend it!

Living simply is really what I'm doing these days. I continue to learn, take photographs, meet people, enjoy good music and food, and try to continue to learn how to live more simply.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted travelers, shared potluck meals and made friends with CS people in town, and have enjoyed being hosted by CS members all over the world. Couchsurfing has been an amazingly rich venue for me to meet local people and quickly dive into a community in any place I go.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has had a wonderful role in my life. Kind CS'ers have hosted me on bicycle tours all over the coutnry. I've even been able to meet people in places where I was living, through the CS community. From week-long stays in a small sea town in Turkey to off-grid cabins and meals cooked over fires, my experiences have been wonderful.

I always try to stay with a CS host instead of a hostel as I find that the CS hosts always know the local area the best and have the most to teach and share with you. I find staying in someone's home or apartment gives a much stronger feeling of a place than staying in a hostel or hotel.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite books are those that teach me things. I like books now on cooking, plants, gardening, wild edible plants and foraging, how to build natural buildings, and also quality fiction.

- 'Ishmael' - Daniel Quinn
- 'Wild Fermentation' - Sandor Katz
- 'The Book of Miso' - Shurtleff, Aoyagi
- 'Beachcomber's Handbook' - Euell Gibbons
- 'Creating a Forest Garden' - Martin Crawford

Films - Werner Herzog and Ingmar Bergman are two of my favorites.

Music - This is too tough, as there is so much!
- Kings of Convenience
- Nicolas Jaar
- D'Angelo
- The Gentleman Losers
- Dial Records [de]
- Liebe Detail (Records) [de]
- Mozart
- Jimpster

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The simple act of diving into natural bodies of water has left me awestruck ever since I was a child. Each time I find water to swim in, that powerful feeling comes back, just like that very first time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always help you cook! I can teach you how to make your own fermented veggies, and cook eggs it's my job. We can make kimchi, or even miso, together.

I'd love to help fix your bicycle, and make your house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

I will gladly also help you out in the garden and can give you lots of tips for plants that you could add to make your land more fruitful.

I also try to meditate regularly so we can do that together if you wish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll cook you a meal, play you songs on the guitar and help wash dishes and keep your place clean! I've also been known to fix things when they are broken.
