I love learning about other cultures through traveling and learning languages. Some of the best years of my life were having the opportunity to live in Brazil to complete a master's degree. I worked for many years as a worker organizer and researcher in unions, and then decided to become an English as a new language and social studies teacher in public schools. I love that my job gives me opportunities to work with immigrant students in the US while also allowing me to travel and work with students abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books

This year I don't have much time outside of work. The last few years I was learning to play samba enredo, samba reggae, pagode, maracatu, and forro.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to rock climb a lot, and really enjoyed Huayno Potosi in Bolivia. I don´t think I´ve ever pushed myself so hard physically, and totally worth it!
