About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to stay in an original 1940s american wigwam motel

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Bristol but have traded southern life for an existence surrounded by red bricks and bitter winds. I've just finished reading American History and Literature at the University of Manchester.

In my spare time I enjoy going to film nights and screenings, dancing to disco, cooking with friends, cycling around town and I always like to try new things and push myself out of my comfort zone.

Manchester is such a fantastic city and I will take you under my wing and show you all that it has to offer- from tiny bars in old underground public toilets to some great galleries and cinemas and beautiful old churches. I live with two of my friends and we're interested in meeting new people-different and likeminded, but people who are well-versed to the couchsurfing ethos and who actually want to communicate rather than passively couch crash.

PHILOSOPHY

It's all about good karma.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Come and crash on my couch!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed my way around the United States for 2 months in 2010 and I've hosted a couple of times in Manchester, cooking with surfers, dancing with them and nosing around Manchester museums.

Interests

Food, crosswords, eBay, cheeseplants, empty sundays, cooking hearty meals with big groups of people, alternative lifestyles, history, wooden buildings, the graduate soundtrack, the shipping forecast, new balance trainers, the 60s and 70s, funk, disco, motown, american culture, awesome women.

I have also spent the last 7 years writing this blog: www.discothequeconfusion.blogspot.com

Music, Movies, and Books

Like everyone else I grew up on David Bowie and am also really into Disco, Boogie, Funk.

Before Sunset and Before Sunrise, Love Story, Beginners, The Royal Tenenbaums, the Disney version of Robin Hood (classic), Synecdoche, New York. Bridesmaids purely for Kristin Wiig's human penis impression. Woody Allen's Take The Money and Run because I will never cease to find the bank heist scene guffaw-worthy.

Also-Holy Motors-have you SEEN Holy Motors?!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skinny dipping in Greece at midnight after the finest most tenderly sticky lamb straight from the spit at a local Catholic festival.

One of the most beautiful days exploring the Andrew Molera Park in Big Sur with two of my best friends.

Cycling to Paris with friends last September. Physically challenging but nothing beat that feeling of seeing the view of the Eiffel Tower emerging on the other side of the hill and all of us going shit crazy and ringing our bells all the way down.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the capitals of each of the American States. I'd also love to know more about cooking japanese and middle eastern food, improve my shoddy french and hear your travelling tales.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom, United States
