About Me

Hi like-mindeds! If you are active on Couchsurfing.com yourself, you know why I am here. To travel is to constantly encounter new faces and places (cheers to Agnès Varda) and to collect perspectives along the way.

Normally, I am living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where I study Law and Philosophy in an attempt to better understand both society and myself. I like to engage in sports and arts, enjoying myself with everything from poetry to cinema and from theatre to literature. As a teacher in the Dutch Language and Culture at university, a physical trainer, and a legal adviser I share my knowledge, interests, and experiences for a living. When I meet you I would be happy to that for free! ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I am currently studying at Fudan University in the city of Shanghai, I am now having my first experiences with China. Since I am curious about more than Shanghai alone, I would like to put my studies in philosophy, history and sociopolitics aside every now and then in order to explore other parts of the country!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lo-fi jazz - Thomas Mann - playing ball - Whiplash - spilling milk - podcasts - no dance, but boogie - ikigai - occasional oatmeal - Rhizomatic thinking - avoiding airplanes - Lao Tzu - cleaning it up - are bananas yellow in the dark? - Wim Wenders - Amélie Poulain - chaos theory - Raggamuffin - perspectivism - Kool Herc - Slauerhoff

Teach, Learn, Share

I see myself as a rather social being, easy to communicate with and always willing to look out after my fellow man. As a volunteer I have done caretaking of young and old, and I know my way around the household. Besides, I am experienced in organising events and cooperating in big festivals mostly in the cultural and artistic sector. Eventhough I am a city-boy, I know how to roll up my sleeves.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Ever when I visit other people's homes, I bring them a typical Dutch treat. What it is, cannot be told yet - however, brace yourself, because it will be delicious ;).
