About Me
I'm a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker currently living in London. I love traveling, meeting interesting people, and gaining new perspectives on the world. I enjoy a good night out with friends, but am also a hard-worker, dedicated to documenting the issues I care about. You can see my work here: http://www.sarahtilotta.com/
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the trusting and openness couch surfing fosters among people who may never meet otherwise.
My first couchsurfing experiences were on a cross-country trip of America with my best friend. We stayed with the most generous and welcoming people, from St. Louis, to Salt Lake City, Omaha, San Francisco, New Orleans... It was a wonderful experience to get locals' sense of what a place is about, and to immediately feel at home with new friends.
After that trip, I wanted to give back to the community and hosted couchsurfers whenever I could in my tiny Brooklyn apartment. During that time I met many wandering souls, and really came to appreciate the trust a host places in their guests when sharing their home. It gave me all the more faith in humanity!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekked the Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan, China, with my mother. Risked my life crawling down a waterfall over the gorge to retrieve my backpack that had fallen, containing my passport, cameras, journal, and other precious items, as my hysterical mother ran in the other direction. The backpack was stolen less than 2 days later. Goes to show, most material things aren't worth risking your life, unless there's a good story to tell after!
Teach, Learn, Share
I've taught film and digital photography, and can teach people how to take better pictures (even with iphones) or how to get more out of their digital cameras in general. I love to practice languages, cook, watch movies, dance, and listen to music in good company.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to make a portrait of my hosts as a thank you gift, or if they prefer, a print of an image I make in their hometown.
