About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting people and broadening horizons!

ABOUT ME

Phew, describing oneself... I believe in ideas and tend to stick to them. Besides that, I study computer sciences at Ulm University, and tinker around with whatever takes my interest at the moment.

I used to be a conference concierge, barkeeper, fireman, beer brewer, park ranger, Yogi Bear impersonator, and I worked in the trauma department of uulm Hospital

PHILOSOPHY

The only definition of "sin" is to treat people like things instead of people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do have a couch, availability depends on my roomies. I will gladly show anyone around the place if they happen to come to my area, though. There's a lot to see, from historical over archaeological and modern to the gastronomical. Bars, that is.

Interests

I currently spend probably way too much time with Open Data, Open Transportation and emerging forms of journalism. Apart from that, it's usually something totally different every couple of months.

  • beer
  • walking
  • clothing
  • socializing
  • computer science

Music, Movies, and Books

Waaaay too many!

I absolutely *love* Terry Pratchett and his dark humor, and there is a plethora of movies I like -- a few mainstream blockbusters, and a whole cartload of classic and/or outstanding films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Grand Canyon in sweltering heat, despite warnings from the guides, in 2005. I was sore for two days, but whew, it was worth it.

Topped that by walking the full 200 Kilometers of the Nijmegen Vierdaagse in 2009. Sore for more than a week, and yes, it was worth that, too :D

Teach, Learn, Share

I've come to like Geocaching, and Ulm is supposed to be the Geocaching capital of Germany. So, yeah, if you bring some good shoes and rugged clothes with you, we might go and salvage one or more hidden treasures.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
