About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make a couch surfing documentary
ABOUT ME
OK, here is my goal: to make a great couchsurfing documentary. You read that correctly. My name is Travis Hill and I am an independent filmmaker. I love the idea of couchsurfing so much that I have decided that I want to make a documentary about it. And I'm going to need YOUR help to make it happen.
Here is the plan: There will be three main parts to the film.
1. I will host a few people on my couch and interview them. We'll also have a cameraman follow us around to record the visits.
2. I plan on taking a road trip across the country, spending the nights couchsurfing. Again, interviews will ensue and the trip will be recorded. I would like to travel with someone who is a veteran couchsurfer. Several people in chat have expressed interest in seeing this site's founder, Casey Fenton, travel with me. While I am sure that Mr. Fenton would be a great guide through the CS world, I am also sure that there are a lot of demands on his time. I will extend the invitation to him, but don't be disappointed if he declines.
3. I would also like to have videos of other people's CS experiences. This is where I will need you the most. Do you have some video of some of your CS adventures? If you do and you would like me to consider using some of your footage in my doc, please email me at thill@stlpixurs.com. You will eventually have to sign a release so that I can legally use your footage, but that will come later. For now, just send me your footage or let me know of any other ways that you might want to help out (i.e. surfing on my couch, having me surf yours, etc.)
Thanks for your interest and let's keep the cameras rolling and the couches full!
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy in life is take things as they come, and don't worry. No matter what happens, you've still got a life to live, so live it to the best of your ability.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I mostly host as my financial situation doesn't allow me much opportunity for travel. But that doesn't keep me down! I love hosting and am lucky to have a roommate who is down with the cause as well. I also am very active in the local group, St Louis, MO and I am always willing to hang out, meet up or help out in any way that I can!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been a member of this community since mid-2005 and I have not once had a bad experience, whether it be interacting with someone solely on the website or hosting/surfing with a member of the community. This is a great community full of like-minded people and I couldn't be more proud to call myself a member.
Interests
I am a big fan of movies, both watching and making them. I also play video games and I love to hang out with friends, and even people I don't know!

Music, Movies, and Books
My DVD collection holds over 300 films, so it is impossible to list them all here. I do read occasionally, and when I do it is usually the Harry Potter series or the Lord of the Rings. I also really enjoy "Shroud of the Thwacker" by actor/comedian Chris Elliot and both of writer/director Kevin Smith's books, "Silent Bob Speaks" and "My Boring Ass Life."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have seen a lot in my lifetime, but the more I do, the harder it is to pinpoint one amazing thing. Honestly, I think my entire life has been amazing, and I want to document that and share it with the world.
