About Me

CURRENT MISSION

India India India! Hang out with people

ABOUT ME

Geeeeeeez. That's too difficult. Instead of talking about myself, I'm going to talk about my friend Rob, with whom I will be travelling in India. I will also refer to Rob as "the grey fox", for no apparent reason. The grey fox started his life in the sleepy prairie town of Ames, Iowa. Born to a mother and father, like most people, Rob developed from a crying, naked organism into a walking, talking, joking, naked boy. He started to love canoeing and hiking at some point. I first met the grey fox while camping. He told a really funny horror story. A few years later, Rob and I became great friends while leading teenagers on canoe trips. The grey fox went to universities, and hitchhiked all over the USA, which is wonderful. He is really really funny yet while you're still laughing from his last joke he'll hit you with deep philosophy that will make your mind twirl. Real nice, I don't think Rob, I mean, the grey fox, has a mean bone in his body. The grey fox is about to embark on a trip to India with John, (me), his friend. I suppose I (John) am friendly, low maintenance and curious as a teenage tiger.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, when I'm stationary I have people hang out and sleep at my place, but I haven't had a real home in a while. I've been bouncing around France and Africa lately, sometimes utilizing couchsurfing. Couchsurfing is my favorite site on the internet, hands down. The only two that compare are wikipedia, as I can learn just about anything, and zennioptical.com, because they sell eyeglasses for 8 dollars. I was blind for about 2 years before I bought their glasses. Come to think of it, I lost my glasses again...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with Mayoro Mbaye(Lamp), Beegan, Khadim, Matar and the crew in Senegal. I ended up staying about a month because I became such good friends with them. If you type in Mayoro Mbaye, St. Louis, Senegal, you can probably find him. Great guy. I also stayed at an organic farm in alsace for a few days; also a really great time.

Interests

Hmmm, I really like hanging out with people and thinking, bouncing ideas off of each other. I also like hanging out in forests or on the water, or on mountains, well, in nature we could say. I like listening to music, drinking drinks and eating eats. I mean, I really like just about everything I've done in my life, so no real reason to list a thousand things. What I don't like is... plastic bags, throwing away food, violence, and hangovers. Oh I was also unemployed for a while, and that was awful. Feeling useless to the world was not a great feeling. I can't end on that unhappy note, so I'll also also mention that I really, really, really love festivals.

Music, Movies, and Books

DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO READ THIS, as I'm trying to create a library, so I've created these lists many times. Books, Ishmael, Calvin and Hobbes, My Ishmael, story of B, Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Tolkien, Cannery Row and more Steinbeck, One flew over the Cuckoo's nest, Catch-22, Clockwork Orange, you know what I could go on forever, so I'll just stop myself.
Movies; Life is Beautiful! Big Lebowski, Koyaanasqatsi, Baraka, Planet Earth, yeah I'll stop at five
Music; Really this time, just about everything, except for what's played on mainstream radio in America, and heavy, angry metal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Man, I once laughed with my friends for about 8 hours straight. Physically, I just couldn't take it anymore. It was the physical limit of human happiness. That was quite incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

French, English, Spanish, Science knowledge, people knowledge, nature knowledge, what do I know? That's a good question, one which I should probably look into.
