About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Presently on a three year trip around-the-world (left 2006) to discover new cultures, countries, foods and friends.

ABOUT ME

With only a virgin passport and a plane ticket to Hong Kong, I set out in August 2006 on what hopes to be a three-year, unscripted trip around-the-world, in hopes of getting a better understanding of how people live in our singular planet. Thus far the adventure has taken me to 35 contries on 5 continents, you can come along for the ride at noboundaries.org.

Along the way I've been exploring my interests and passions in filmmaking, community-building, creativity, social entrepreneurship, education, economics, music, media, stories, photography and people.

Although I do take in the required tourist sights, I find the most enjoyment in travel comes from seeing and getting a better understanding of how people live, and how they interact with the world.

My travels have taken me across North America, Asia, through parts of The Middle East and the former Soviet Union, into Europe, across Africa, throughout SE Asia and into Australia and New Zealand.

I am extremely easy-going and flexible after all that travel, and find the biggest joy in my travels now come from meeting new people(and trying new foods). Sitting around a dinner table with new friends, is an ideal night for me.

PHILOSOPHY

"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." -- E.B. White

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When traveling, one hears about the Couch Surfing Project all over the globe, and I think it is one of the greatest methods of bringing our world together. The absolutely BEST way to see and experience a country is with a local person as a guide, so the CS2 Project is a great way for people to connect with locals where they don't initially know anyone.

I think the connections made by simply traveling and hosting, are big steps in bringing about positive change.

"I am done with great things and big things, great institutions and big success, and I am for those tiny invisible molecular moral forces that work from individual to individual, creeping through the crannies of the world like so many rootlets, or like the capillary oozing of water, which if you give them time, will rend the hardest monuments of man's pride." --- William James

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a few people and (when I get home one of these days) I plan to host to pay back into the bank of travel karma. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I work primarily as a social entrepreneur and in film/media production (feature films, TV, documentaries and some TV). But I've also worked in the past as a cooking class instructor among other things, and as I've traveled I've had cooking lessons in about 20 countries. I am more than willing to cook for you, learn from you and/or share with you what I know. If I had a specialty it'd be homemade apple pie (which can be made from local ingredients in atleast 20 countries...so far).

Also, in the past few years of traveling, I have picked up a lot of knowledge on places to go and things to see/do, and am more than willing to share.

Oh, and I'm a storyteller by heart, so I love to tell and hear new stories!
