About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to contribute to building a more resilient community in my area through practicing and teaching more about localized agriculture utilizing regenerative techniques, to help foster stronger communities that focus on relationship building and skill sharing, and to uplift the mycology community in Central Texas with the Central Texas Mycological Society.

ABOUT ME

I live with my partner and two fuzzy cats, Omphee and Nubes, in Central Texas. We moved 15 minutes from the city center and have enjoyed being a bit out of town. I have been practicing small scale agriculture for about eight years and have experience on more than 12 farms - a combo of volunteering and employment. I love growing food, hiking in the woods, traveling, and so much more.

PHILOSOPHY

There is too much pain in this world. If we have the privilege to do so, it is important that we shine through this by helping our communities however we can because, at the end of the day, there is also so much love in the word. ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I traveled throughout the United States, I loved the opportunity to stay with folks on Couchsurfing. I think it is a part of what can make traveling more affordable for folks and offer insights to ways of living in different communities around the world. I have hosted once in my old house and now have a better, more private, space to offer travelers so I am opening my new house up for anyone passing through San Marcos, Texas.

Interests

Lately, most of my time is spent farming, supporting the Central Texas Mycology community, kayaking on the beautiful San Marcos river, and hanging with friends. I love to hike and look for wild fungi when it's not over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is a highlight of life. I love so many different types of music but I often find myself listening to electronic music the most. Some of my favorite artists include; Troy Boi, Bonobo, Kamauu, The Polish Ambassador, Major Lazer, and Sampa the Great.

Books, books, books! I plan to create more time for reading! It's been awhile since I've been on a reading kick. I used to be all about Tom Robbins and Barbra Kingsolver. Now, I am more focused on reading mushroom and farming related books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to Peru for three weeks and was able to explore the jungles and ruins around the country. This was my first international solo trip and it was a blast!

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning is forever. I'm open to learning what you want to share with me! I'm down to teach you what I know about farming, mycology and kayaking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good cooking, sharing my personal experiences with the WWOOF organization (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), respectfully sharing someones space, having a fun time exploring the city, and sharing my views of the world as well as listening to yours to the best of my ability.
