Overview
About Me
I live, study and work in Czech capital, Prague. Even though I love to travel, most of the year a spend in Prague doing the aforementioned three activities. Most of the summer I travel, though. Currently I started to do my PhD in a history of religions, my topic is the christianization of the Slavic people in Middle Ages, but I am interested in all archaic religions, epics and rituals in general. I mention it probably because this work-study-live-thing connected with my PhD represents a consitituve part of my life and my travels are usually connected with visiting the archaelogical places of interests, museums and libraries, and therefore it's worth to mention here, on the site dedicated to travelling. I guess.
But I like to lie to myself I'm not a boring bookworm at all.:) I love a good beer or wine, I enjoy intoxicating conversations and meeting new people - otherwise I wouldn't be here, right?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I very much like the idea of sharing the home and hosting foreign people in this already too commodificated and money-centered world. Besides, I think it's is always better to explore the foreign countries via meeting the local people and spending time with them - you never know what the country is really about if you stay only in a standardized environment of the hotels, hostels and its common 'ecological niches', i.e. tourist offices, restaurants and taxi drivers and so on... Therefore, I think that the CS's main idea of solidarity and community is a wonderful thing and needs to be supported.
I'm hosting people who go through Prague. And when I travel, I sometimes try to find a hospitable couch somewhere.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Well, I like any genre. Mostly world music, jazz, folk, blues, woodstock music, indie, but equably reggae, ska, some ambient, folklore, funky or punk. I just do not appreciate hip-hop, r'n'b, techno and that kind of stuff. Just not for me.
Books: A random sample would be: Eliade, Lévi-Strauss, Ajvaz, Eco, Meyrink, Kafka, Dumézil, Tolkien, Keats, Jung, Poe, Bergson, Simmons, Baudelaire, Exupéry...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ate chocolate pudding this morning. It was delightful.
Teach, Learn, Share
I studied the comparative religion and history of religions so I am very interested in a different kind of religions, philosophies and cultures of the world. I like history. I would like to learn new things, I'd like to share known things. I like discussing all kind of stuff. Briefly: mythology, literature, poetry, medicine, physics – it´s all about people. About man. And that's great. And it´s great to talk about it.
Moreover, if you're a musician, I'd like you to teach me the songs you know and can play - which I don't know and can't play yet. And vice versa. There is always some string instrument around me, so the learning field is usually reciprocally opened.
And I love to cook! Even though I'm not as good in it as I would like to be, I know some stuff and I would be honored to cook something for you and learn some new recipes in return!
