About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Learn. To Live. To Help Make People Happy.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 21 year old student originally from Oshkosh, Wisconsin but going to school at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I am majoring in Advertising, Art History, and Studies in Cinema and Media Culture... my dream jobs include working at an International Disney Theme Park or for the International Olympic Committee... basically any job where I can work with communications and meet people from all over the world in my job!
I have a 25 year old brother who got married about two years ago... and I'm trying to not-so-subtly convince him to have kids soon, I want to be an Uncle! I love hanging out with kids and have had many jobs in the past where I got to hang out with them, such as working with Radio Disney and as a Kids Camp Counselor. I've also worked as a Tour guide for my school and in a Fast Food Restaurant for two years!
I generally am just all about taking adventures, making memories, and having great experiences. Sometimes the experiences are difficult... but you learn the most from those! I am very open to experiencing new cultures and meeting new people, and I'm trying to see the World one country at a time!!

PHILOSOPHY

"You're never too old for a happy childhood"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the CS project, but I've heard some great things from people, so I figure its about time to check things out! Right now I am travelling around Europe until about the end of May.... and then I'm excited to get back home and start sharing my couch! I would love to meet people from over the world... and what a cool way to do it than by showing off your home? It would be such a great way to "Find the World in my own backyard!"

Music, Movies, and Books

While I am not a huge book person (with the exception of the Harry Potter Series!), I do find myself reading more and more of them these days... so we'll see my book status in the future!

Music, I pretty much like anything with a beat. In my "Top 25 played songs" I've got a random selection! From some hit songs from Bollywood films in India, to Disney music, to things like Spanish singer Juanes, and some classic Frank Sinatra!

I also like a wide range of Movies... to break into categories:
Favorite Comedy: Liar Liar
Favorite Disney Films: The Incredibles / Aladdin
Favorite Serious Movies: American Beauty / Crash
Favorite action movies: national Treasure / X-Men

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite memories was when I went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. It was a zoo getting into the place because it was closed for half of the day, but we finally got in and saw this amazing shrine of love! We hung out there for the rest of the day, but the absolute coolest part happened when they were closing the building up for the day. My friend and I realized that while they had closed the exit, they hadn't closed the entrance... so we sort of snuck back into the Taj Mahal. It was INCREDIBLE because the architecture is done in a way where "The Sound of Infinity" exists when no other noises occur. Basically it is the air reverberating off of the walls... so its the sound of nothing and everything at the same time. It was something truly special and only possible to hear if you are the first one in during the day, or the last one out at night. What a truly special occurance!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an expert board game/card game strategist... anyone who wants to increase their gaming skills... let me know.
I am also a pretty mean coloring. Crayons didn't get old when I was six... I continue to use them still today. While I am an "In the lines" kind of guy... I think its possible to make pictures come alive! I can share some tips!
I am also really into in-depth conversations, both about important issues and "frivolous" topics. Gender Issues in society to Social Justice and Advertising Theory to the latest Reality TV gossip. I think all conversations are meaningful and I would love to share my opinion and listen to opinions from around the World that differ from my viewpoints!

Also... I'm really interested in learning some new skills! I think that everything in life as a 6 year old boy is wonderful... so I like to live learning some mad skills my little friends have. If you can teach me to play some foursquare or how to make a better tree fort, I am definitely up to learning! I'm also feeling really artsy for the time being... so if you like to paint, watercolor, draw, make handicrafts, etc... I for sure wnat to learn!!
