Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel, travel, travel. I make a great nomad.
ABOUT ME
I am fun, positive, adventurous and like a walking encyclopedia. I love to read and learn, I love history and I love to travel. I am laid back, very little freaks me out, and I like to show people around places where I live.
And I love people.
PHILOSOPHY
I hate to be a pollyanna, but there really is a silver lining in everything. Look, if you like who you are, you can't regret your past. It MADE you who you are. And every experience teaches you something.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try, when I can, to let people stay with me. If I can't, I try to always meet someone for coffee.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have yet to be anywhere when I can stay with someone, but I have met fellow CSers and they have shown me around where they live and it has always been ssuch a treat!
Interests
All things bright and beautiful...
I love history and architecture and SCUBA diving and reading and hiking and cooking and relaxing and traveling and and and...I like a lot of things
Mostly I like to learn about other people and where they are from and what they do. I am a very social animal.

Music, Movies, and Books
MOVIES: Stupid comedies (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tommy Boy, Wedding Crashers, The 40-year-old Virgin (which was so well acted by Steve Carrell), Bruce Almighty), Lord of the Rings (and I have read the books many times), The Others, Dario Argento horror films (Opera, Susperia), Rainer Werner Fassbinder Films, Most Documentaries, but especially The War Room, Ken Burns: New York, Be Good Smile Pretty.
Totally gratuitous plug for NetFlix, which I am convinced is God's personal gift to me.
BOOKS: If it's Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Neverwhere, Sandman), I've read it.
Authors whose books I have read and own more than three of include: Toni Morrison, Isabelle Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Neil Gaiman (see above), Kurt Vonnegut, Terry Prachett, CS Lewis, and Ray Bradbury, just to name a few.
I'll read anything about the Middle East (Occupied Voices, Thomas Friedman books, The Gun and the Olive Branch, Living Islam Out Loud, Reading Lolita in Tehran, etc).
The Life of Pi, Zen and the Art of Archery, Harry Potter (I'm not ashamed), Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
Anything about the history of New York City (Gotham, NYC Sex, Five Points, The Triangle)...
MUSIC:I have over 5000 songs on my iPod, so let's see if I can list the few groups I listen to:
U2, Indigo Girls, Michael Buble, 80's music, Eminem...I think he's a misogynistic jerk, but tremendously talented, Marc Anthony, but his Spanish music is way better than his English, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz, Rooney, Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Coldplay, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Fiona Apple, Max Sharam, Martin Sexton...
These days, my iPod is playing an Arabic Language CD.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
camped in the jordan desert, Wadi Rum to be exact.
woke up in the middle of Tikal listening to birds and monkeys.
Teach, Learn, Share
Be pragmatic about money. And you DO NOT need all those clothes. Traveling for four weeks in Italy? Pack the following: two pairs of shorts, one pair of pants, one skirt, three shirts, and a bottle of detergent. Sink washing is a miracle.
Ask everyone. Meet people. Talk to the natives.
Countries I’ve Visited
