About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel further but more slowly

ABOUT ME

Me is not my favourite subject. I guess when you travel, wherever you go there you are. It the great paradox of travel that there you are - travel is an opportunity to step back on life. What I like to see when I travel is that difference in life that you can find that both connect us and keep us apart. What is that that makes us unique but also part of a particular place?

Also, I like to see how places work, people working when I'm not, the crazy world in motion. I like to see Art and Architecture. I like to taste new foods and drink. Smell the aroma of a place, good or bad, and breath fresh air whenver I can. I like to hear how people talk even I don't know they mean. Feel the texture of places and art.

Does that tell you enough about me? Any questions?

PHILOSOPHY

Tomorrow is another day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - Martin Amis, Will Self, Mikhail Bulgakov, Milan Kundera, Gerald Kersh are among my favourites.
Music - i like the blues more than jazz, i like the Pogues, the Jam, a more recent band i like are the Streets.
Films - I like British cinema with a gritty or surreal edge (Get Carter, Repulsion, Hammer house), I like American cinema from the golden era of noir (if that isn't a contradiction) and the low budget or realism of the 1970s to early 1990s. Also I like some French cinema (films like La Haine, Delicatessen).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think visiting Siberia was amazing, especially as I grow up in the 1980s when the Soviet Union was the Evil Empire and Siberia the heart of the evil. To sip warm mineral water in the Ashan mountains and see how ordinary live there.
