About Me
* fully covid vaccinated as of April 2021 *
Couchsurfer for over 12 years, but every experience is as new as ever!
Keeping the profile sections from my "old" profile:
CURRENT MISSION:
- Finding a new passion (business ideas?)
- Forming authentic and supportive connections
- Travel as much as possible! (visit every country, every content, go to every summer Olympics, etc.!)
ABOUT ME:
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Spent a summer in Hamburg, Germany (2004); studied in Berkeley, California (2005-2009); lived in London, UK (2007-2008; 2011-2013); Durham, North Carolina (2012); and Düsseldorf, Germany (2013-2015).
I returned to LA (2016) and split my time between LA and Sydney. Moved to San Francisco (2017). And now (2021) I’ve moved to Las Vegas!
For work I manage a digital marketing team (have worked for several companies/startups as well as independently as a contractor/consultant). I have also been a business/economics tutor and instructor. I enjoyed studying economics - especially because it explains so much about the world we live in and how people behave. Crowdsourcing, automation, new business models, anything inspiring - I want to hear about it!
PHILOSOPHY
Take care of yourself. Don't get in the way of other people's happiness. Focus on what you can control. Try everything that you want to. Get better each day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been active on CS since 2008 (!) - introduced by an exchange friend of mine.
Hosted plenty of people when I lived in West LA, lived in a cool CS house in London, hosted some in Düsseldorf and in San Francisco; and I've couchsurfed many times around the world. Each experience was awesome and has led me to form some of the best friendships of my life! I am always happy to meet couchsurfers.
Interests
Queer and proud - welcoming all types of people with a spirit of love and inclusion 🌈✨
I love traveling (don't we all!);
learning new things/ideas (trivia and "fun facts" yay!);
spreading good energy to the people I meet;
experiencing live music;
enjoying good food and drinks;
and staying active whenever I can.
I've tried lots of things and usually enjoy them. Snowboarding, surfing, performing with a live band, flash mobs, volunteering, political activism, and some crazy things I won't publicly write on this profile 😉

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I generally enjoy upbeat and catchy music (pop, rock, dance, indie, hip-hop, electronic, house, punk-pop, mashups). Love throwback hits that everyone can sing along to. Let's see a live show!
Movies:
I try to watch all the Oscar-nominated films each year. Deep, complex plots; hilarious comedies; or soaring action films I all love.
Books:
Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist is written in sync with my heart.
Otherwise, I generally like non-fiction and self-improvement; Freakonomics, The Omnivore's Dilemma, Rich Dad/Poor Dad. I got addicted to Game of Thrones [until the last season 😒], but I never picked up A Song of Ice and Fire.
Also, podcasts! Let's compare recommendations
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't choose just one... 😜
Made awesome lifelong friends. Played tennis with Andre Agassi. Survived a total car crash without wearing a seat belt. Performed improv comedy. Walked on the sea floor to an island and took a boat back. Got hit by a deer while driving. Saw Nessie. Was on a bus, a train, and underwater at the same time. Skiied the Alps (without knowing how to ski). Ran alongside the Olympic Torch. Did the Monopoly Pub Crawl in London. Appeared on a TV game show. Joined thousands in a spontaneous parade in the streets.
Stood on an active volcano. Sunset cruise under the Golden Gate. Met celebrities around LA. Was flown to Google headquarters for an interview. Touched the largest tree in the world. Met 8 models on national TV. Got kicked out of a Vegas club. Took part in several flash mobs. Jet skiied.
Drove across the USA. Experienced an authentic crawfish boil in New Orleans. Iceland. Climbed the highest peak in England. Hitchhiked. Summer music festivals. Berlin nightlife. Summer solstice at Stonehenge. Went to several games of the 2012 London Olympics! New Years in London (twice). Driving a car in a snowstorm.
Made a best friend. Got a great job. Jumped off a diving board 10m high. Water skiied. Got on a flight without anyone on board knowing where it was going. Surfed in Hawaii. Went on an all-expense paid trip to a surprise destination. Lost my job (twice). Survived heartbreak. Knowing myself better than ever.
Taught myself to drive a motorcycle (and crashed it). Had unbelievable party nights (and hangovers) in many places around the world.
Became a regular at a five-star hotel's restaurant. Experienced EDC #PLUR. Felt immediately at home in Brazil. Learned to respect myself, my friends, and my family. Marched in SF Pride with Nancy Pelosi. Walked the Great Wall of China. Started my own business. Married two of my friends. Bought a house!
Teach, Learn, Share
Baking soda and vinegar can clean almost anything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Plenty of stories, travel tips, and fun facts. Ideas about the world. Suggest things to watch on Netflix, or podcasts to listen to. Can try to sing together (karaoke?). But above all, good times, good food/drink, and good people.
