About Me

Hello!
I am an avid traveler and love connecting with people from all over the world. I started traveling when I saved up enough money as a 16 year old to participate in a homestay program in France and from that summer on, I was hooked on travel!

I have lived in France, Cameroon and Mexico for months at a time while traveling around Europe, Japan, South America and Africa.

I grew up on the West Coast of the USA and now live in our Nation's Capital. It's a GREAT city and really beautiful too. I enjoy skateboarding, video editing and bike riding. I also hope to do a bike ride through Italy with my family in the near future!

Lastly, I really enjoy games and designing them as well. I have worked at video game studio and have built many games over the years with my students in DC. I no longer teach in the classroom but build online learning courses and run my own online game show about exploring the world as well!
Can't wait to meet you!
Chris

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a very specific reason. I want to find people would like to be on the world's first travel-based game show. This isn't Amazing Race, it's an actual game show with questions and prizes and more importantly: a show that gets deep into culture by observing everyday things on Google's Street View.

I started this show a couple years ago and if you check out StreetviewVagabond on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok you'll find me. I design each game by exploring places around the world on Google's Street View, I take screenshots of interesting places and objects that have cultural significance, I then crop these photos down into challenging puzzles, and I then recruit locals to get on a Zoom call and try to identify where these places are in their hometowns.

The BEST part is that it turns into an amazing travel program where locals tell fun stories and anecdotes about their lives and hometowns. I LOVE IT and I know you will too!

So I am joining Couchsurfing as a way to recruit folks to be contestants on my show as a local. It will take 15 minutes of your time and will be conducted on Zoom. You can participate from anywhere in the world. I'm just looking for folks who want to rep their hometown to the world in a fun, respectful and positive way.

I believe everyone is interesting and every place is worth visiting if you are curious enough to experience the beauty that is all around us!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love funk music and I love finding funk music that is being produced all over the world.

My favorite movie is Memento because I love how it messes with your head. For that reason I love movies that are not predictable or that the punch line is something that you may not have seen coming. Sixth Sense is also great!

I approach my books like I do my YouTube viewing...I love to learn practical stuff. So I mainly read non-fiction geography, history and business development books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in Red Bull's Flugtag competition in New York City in 2003. I rode a flying squirrel off of a pier into the Hudson River and landed flat on my back while doing so. The good news is that my team won "Most Creative" and we were featured in the morning news the next day in NYC.

I should also add that I started a really goofy run here in DC where people eat the most famous food in town halfway through the half marathon. We organized it for 10 years and raised thousands of dollars for charity. It was called the Half and Half Marathon based out of Ben's Chili Bowl and we even made it into Ripley's Believe it Or Not weekly cartoon!

Teach, Learn, Share

Now is all we have. Have at it!
