About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see Africa

ABOUT ME

My interests include reading, scrabble, stamp collecting, traveling and making new friends. I also love animals.

Having raised 4 children alone I am now want to do as much traveling as I can before it's too late to get on a plane to anywhere!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. Help when you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCH SURFING

I only host people who are over 25 and who have some references. If you are under 25 please don't request accommodation unless you have been recommended by a friend whom I have already met.

I look forward to making new friends. I was a member of global freeloaders for several years but changed to CS and have hosted lots of travelers through this organisation.

I was in the UK for 6 months during 2011 and couch surfed a lot. I met some really interesting people in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and France. In 2012 I spent 6 months in North America, drove across Canada and then around the US. In 2018 I again drove around the US with side trips up to Canada to stay with friends I made on the first trip. Made a whole lot of new friends. 2019 I drove around the UK visiting friends I made on my first trip and making new friends. Life is good.

COUCH SURFING EXPERIENCE

Apart from three dreadful stays I've had all positive experiences and made some wonderful friends whom I hope to host in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

Popular, Nat King Cole and others of this genre. Not into movies much but read voraciously.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

More than one, as I raised 4 children alone. I've also driven around the UK, Ireland then France. I've driven across Canada, Vancouver to Nova Scotia and around the US twice with side trips to Canada to visit friends I made on the first trip. I also helped train trotting race horses in my youth.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy learning from everyone as we all have something to share. I can help you with your English if you ask and I can share my wonderful curry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maybe share a meal with you the night you arrive.

Brochures of things to do in Victoria.

As I live in between two forms of public transport l am happy to drop you off at the railway station for you to go into town. (It's the one place I never go.)

If you would like, I can take you on a day trip to 4 interesting places up in the local hills which includes, feeding parrots (cost $4), going to the William Ricketts reserve (free), Puffing Billy (approx $40) and a trip to our local dam where we usually see kangaroos (free). If the weather is nice and I have the 'stuff' I will make a BBQ at the dam for you.
