About Me

You're welcome, especially if you want to stay for a longer period of time.

At the rare moments that I'm not working, I play the guitar in a rock band, I dance zouk (a partner dance like salsa or tango), and I meditate. I'm slightly introverted and a thinker, rather than a feeler. I like authenticity, honesty and plainness - Just look at the pictures of my home for what I mean by "plainness".

I thoroughly enjoy chatting with Couchsurfing guests in the evening, as well as making music together. I equally enjoy having breakfast together, if our schedules permit so. During the week, I'm usually not much available for hanging out, but in the weekend I often am. I especially enjoy taking guests on bicycle tours through this wonderful city and its splendid surroundings.

About hosting people for longer periods of time: It always takes time to get to know each other plus that I don't particularly enjoy washing the bedding. That's why I usually only host people who stay for at least two nights. The longest stay so far was 89 days, and I wouldn't have minded if it would have been longer (I think I was really lucky with that guest - We were very compatible).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Contact with other people is a cornerstone of my life and I found Couchsurfing a great way to do so. I tend to have guests all the time, and I utterly enjoy it. I love the "holiday mood" that guests bring with them: Being in the here-and-now, being non-judgemental, their self-sufficiency and - to use a Couchsurfing cliché - Their open-mindedness.

For me, Couchsurfing is about interaction, and not about getting a free bed. Unfortunately, I occasionally have guests with whom I have almost no interaction at all. This makes me feel being used. If your Couch Request doesn't indicate any intention to have interaction, it is unlikely that I would host you.

What I look for in Couch Requests:

* I only consider personalized requests: Do you use my name?
* I only consider personalised requests: Make it really obvious that you've read my profile
* What will you contribute? Or are you only looking for a free bed?
* I only consider requests that are send as such. I do *not* react to messages, and I don't react to requests send through Facebook Messenger
* When visiting together with others, you *have* to include links to their Facebook- or Couchsurfing-profiles
* Is your request for at least two days?
* Do you use your real name on your profile?
* Do you have a proper picture on your profile?
* Extra points: Do you have a verified Couchsurfing-profile?

Depending on the time of the year, I get about 5 to 25 requests per day, and I try to answer them all within 24 hours. I hope you can understand that my answer might be a bit terse - Nothing personal.

You don't need to bring a present, as the encounter should be the present. But if you insist: A fridge magnet would be nice, and I love tea. I don't drink alcohol and I rarely eat sugar or sweet stuff.
