About Me

Hello, this is a joint profile for me and my girlfriend Bhumi (using my original CS profile from my days in NYC). I'm originally from Southern California...went to university in Portland, Oregon (Lewis & Clark College). After college I lived in London for a year and then spent about 5 years living in NYC. After getting my fill of big city I life I decided to go back to school in North Carolina where I met my lovely partner, Bhumi. Take it from here Bhumes....

Hello! I'm Bhumi and while my family is originally Indian I grew up first in Birmingham, UK and then moved to North Carolina when I was 10. I did my undergrad and masters in biology and was working in a lab for Dengue fever when I met Scott. We both decided to spend a year in Australia (through Scott's work) and right now I'm applying to Physican Assistants programs back in the states. Currently, we live in Melbourne and are trying to see as much of AUS/NZ as possible...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Scott has had some amazing experiences hosting both in Portland Oregon and New York and also surfing across Hungary, Sweden, Scotland, and Denmark.
Bhumi has never couchsurfed before but wants to see why Scott keeps raving about it :)

Interests

Scott: Running, Slower more scenic running (hiking), Pub-ing/Nightlife in general, reading (economist, nytimes, science fiction etc), meeting tons of new people.

Bhumi: Exercise involving jumping up and down (and any class where I get to see how uncoordinated Scott is muwhaha), cocktails, drawing/painting, crafting, biology, and of course meeting new people

Music, Movies, and Books

Scott: Sigur Ros, Phoenix, The Beatles, Barenaked Ladies, Ambulance LTD, Broken Social Scene, Tribe Called Quest, AIR, Nada Surf, Oasis, Polaris, Radiohead, The Shins, Stereophonics, Stevie Wonder, Third Eye Blind, and generally speaking any music made between 1 Jan 1990 and 31 Dec 1999.

Bhumi: Some of Scott's indie-music but more hip hop and of course the irresistible Lana Del Rey

Both: GAME OF THRONES!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scott: A host in Stockholm was so awesome and we got along so well that I decided to fly back 3 weeks later and do it all over again. Also, one time I was able to convince a group of muggers not to steal my watch.

Bhumi: Scott, that was two things...come on now. I recently worked 9 months as a nurse's aid in a Burn ICU and it made me appreciate so many things: ethical issues involving family members, the psychological effects of physical trama, and how lucky we should all feel to have loved ones to care for us during times of need.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My girlfriend and I love to cook (read: she loves to cook and I'm a good sous-chef) and would definitely be willing to help out with making a dinner or breakfast or anything for our host!
