About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live fast, not die too young, but take enough risks to make it bloody exciting. And be nice to people.

ABOUT ME

Spent ten years in the army flying helicopters, far too much of it in horribly hot and dusty deserts getting shot at. Since then I drove UK to India in a Land Rover and started a BBQ business in East London. Recently decided to go into commercial helicopter flying, so I'm hibernating (semi-detoxing) in my parents' place in the Alps, studying for my commercial flying licences and dreaming of my next adventure. It's an amazing place, incredibly beautiful and serene, perfect to hibernate and daydream. But, as much as I'm very happy with my own company and a pile of books (that I've been wanting to find the time to read for far too long), it's nice to have some company. So please, it you're in this part of France, drop by - I have a few friends coming out from the UK to visit, so won't always have space, but most of the time there's a couple of spare bedrooms going to waste.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Most of my friends would describe me as the least military army officer they've met. In fact, for most of my friends, I'm the only army officer they've met, so please don't be scared away by my former job, I only did it because I didn't want to get a real job selling my soul in an office. When they told me they'd pay me to fly helicopters and go skiing a lot I was sold, hook, line and sinker... So, I love music, festivals, skiing, the mountains (more than anything), discovering the world, science and nature, as well as mojitos...

Interests

Skiing, the mountains in general, live music, politics, economics, current affairs,. And most importantly, seeing as much of the world, every landscape and culture, before I die.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skiing back-country in Verbier where if you make one mistake you're dead.
Flying helicopters in war zones.
Seeing five different species of penguin in NZ. Also the NZ landscape, most stunning in the world.
Going to Burning Man!
Driving to India through most countries in Central Asia (Afghanistan included), China, Tibet & Nepal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Use my place as a base to go walking in the mountains, It's very beautiful here! There's no nightlife until the ski season starts in December though, it's super quiet, which is a rather pleasant escape from the bustle of the real world! Better if you have your own transport to get around, but not strictly necessary, there's lots of good mountain walks accessible from here. This is good base to visit to Morzine or Chamonix if you have a vehicle.
