ABOUT ME

I've just arrived in Hanoi to teach English. Before Vietnam I was in Azerbaijan and also in Istanbul. Before that I spent 3 years in Moscow and 9 months in the Czech Republic, also teaching.

When I lived in the UK I was a travelling manager for the Scottish Youth Hostels, but when they decided the purpose of Youth Hostels was to compete with Travelodge we fell out and I trained to be a teacher.

PHILOSOPHY

No-one ever died and said "I wish I hadn't been to so many places, met so many people and had so much fun"

I don't plan long-term, 6 months is about my maximum.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies & TV aren't really my thing - books and radio win every time. For books - David Mitchell, Neal Stephenson,
history, science. If desperate, I'll read anything.

Huge music fan, especially Captain Beefheart, The Fall, DJ Shadow, Boards of Canada but nothing mainstream.

People treat you the way you treat them. Decide for yourself - half the places I've been and people I've met would never have happened if I'd listened to the advice of "You don't want to do that - it's dangerous/the people aren't nice"
