About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Let the sunshine. Let the sunshine in.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Stuart and there are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

I like to think that it is not really the destination that matters when travelling but the people you meet along the way. Places, statues and buildings will always be there but it is the experiences and friendships you share with people who were once strangers that really mean something.

I am currently living in the city centre of Glasgow at the moment with my two friends Daniel and Emma who are also on couchsurfing. We've got 2 lovely, comfy sofas in the living room that are just waiting for travellers to come stay on!

PHILOSOPHY

Simplicity. It's all about the simple things in life.

Less is more. More or less...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By showing and sharing my beautiful country. Living in Glasgow city centre means we can explore and enjoy one of the friendliest cities in the world. Loch Lomond and the surrounding national park is also just a short drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh is just a short train journey away.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed with Jip and Lorenz in Rotterdam, Vinny in Wicklow, Rachel and Rick in Newcastle, Jules in Norwich, Alex, Nadine and Michael in Mainz, Katharina in Montpellier, Nicolas in Perpignan, Manu in Andorra, Juan Pablo in Toulouse, Noor and Pierre in Bordeaux and also Vincent in Bordeaux. All great experiences.

I have hosted the lovely Sandra from Grenoble, Dylan from Melbourne, Michael and Laya from Bremen/Mainz and Marie from Nuremberg, Marie Ann from Bavaria and Geoffrey and Lisa from Toulouse.

I've also met countless people for a beer or a coffee with a list that is too large to mention.

Interests

Simply being outdoors. Whether it's hiking, riding my bike or just chilling in the park I just want to be outside. Unfortunately living in Scotland the weather often has other ideas about letting you do this. Reading the paper and drinking tea. Having a beer with friends. I am a simple man with simple pleasures haha.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books about adventure and people who do extraordinary things. Into the Wild, Moods of Future joys, The road headed west, Recently been reading a lot of Laurie Lee and diggin' it. Hoping to do a lot more reading now that I'm no longer at university. Book swaps are always appreciated.

Gangster films to Rom-Coms...I enjoy them all for what they are. Favourite film? Lost in Translation (At present)

An eclectic mixture really...John Martyn, Nahko Bear, Bon Iver, The Head and Heart, First Aid Kit, Greg Brown, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Mike Love, John Butler Trio, Xavier Rudd. Too many to name actually.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've cycled my bike to from Scotland to Spain and back again

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to Ceilidh dance and I can flick up 2 beer coasters simultaneously and catch them both.

I can also teach you numerous Scottish swear words and slang that'll have to conversing with the best of them.
