About Me

Retired from residential design, estimating, and construction project management in 2014.
An amateur, uncommitted, quasi-musician suffering from an incurable passion for dabbling in a ridiculous collection of almost every common musical instrument which prevents me from mastering any.
Bad but enthusiastic golfer yet, improving with opportunity.
Very compassionate but lack patience with closed minded or incomprehensible attitudes.
Raised Dutch Reformed (protestant) yet seek more metaphorical than historical reflection in scriptural references.
Disdain extreme political views and unfounded biased opinion although passionate about my own liberal tendencies (solid argument is however welcomed to monitor perspective and even to transform if validated ;)
Enjoy a drink as prescribed by experts who agree to its benefit and occasionally to a happy excess if required to demonstrate amazing dance skills;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Enjoyed hosting three times; a touring five piece band from Austin, a cross country single mother and child, and a Canadian public servant who winters in Mexico.
All offered generously positive references.

Music, Movies, and Books

New Orleans Sounds: Honey Island Swamp Band, Jon Cleary, John Boutté, Trombone Shorty, Kermit Ruffins, etc.;
Earth Tones: Bella Fleck, Ravi Shankar, Little Feat, Blues ;
Electric Fusion: Steve Morse, Jeff Scheetz, Scott Henderson;
Not a fan of hip hop, rap, or punk but will listen if properly introduced for any relative value.

Baz Lurhmann, James Cameron, and Wes Anderson Films.

I enjoy non fiction with the exception to Garrison Keillor & Steve Lukather. Drawn to following politics, human behavior, illuminating our species, and self awareness. Frankly, prefer to wait for the movie in fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitched mostly alone from the Rockies to the Florida Keys and back home again to small town Iowa in '71-'72.
Windstar cruising islands and ports of the Aegean Sea from Athens to Rome with stops in Naples, Paris, also small cruise lined the West Indies, and recently vacationed in Maui.
Children in Colorado provide havens of relaxation among the majestic Rockies.

Teach, Learn, Share

Casually inclined for spontaneity in engaging conversation. Hoping to learn some conversational Italian for my granddaughter’s upcoming wedding in 2024!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Handy with tools, a tinkering fixer.
Attentive, somewhat opinionated, eager conversationalist, slightly dense, yet grateful and fortunate.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Mexico
