About Me

A few years ago i woke up and realised my job was boring and life was going nowhere, so i bought a round the world plane ticket and quit.

Now trying to find a balance of working just enough to fund more travel, and the pool of ideas for places to go and things to do keeps growing exponentially!

I want to see a bit of the typical tourist stuff but also get to know what it's like to live in each place i visit.

I love the competitive sports and the outdoors, especially long distance hiking, and now on my first cycling tour, wild camping as much as possible.
I also love music, my mp3 player is NY most treasured possession, and i try to see live bands while I travel, but equally happy just chilling out with a good beer and some conversation.

I love cheese. And marmite.

I'm pretty laid back, have got used to not knowing where the day will lead, and will try anything once!

Life is not a rehearsal

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the moment i'm on my travels so i am looking to meet people wherever i am to share experiences and discover more about local life than I can read in a guidebook.
I think my money is better spent on buying people beer than on accommodation!

Part of me can't wait to settle down somewhere, at which point i can start hosting- travel for me is about exploring the world to find that place, currently first choice is a mountain chalet...

Its just great to have this community of like minded people! I've been rescued by a household of partying students in California, went zip lining in Vancouver and found new friends for New Years Eve in Arizona, and played soccer in Auckland, NZ
Even when i'm not surfing i keep randomly meeting other CSer's, and its always good times!

Interests

I like the outdoors and sports, particularly football (soccer) and badminton, but also hiking, scuba diving, snorkelling, archery, swimming, kayaking, snowboarding/skiing, tennis, skydiving, anything active or outdoors.

I love music of any genre - i've been to hundreds of gigs and several festivals over the last few years and play the guitar badly.

I like cooking (mainly english dishes like shepherds pie, toad in the hole, hotpots and stews) and drinking, although its quality not quantity these days! I LOVE cheese.

I like architecture and galleries, street art, people watching...

Also video games, which i've spent far too much time playing, from classic NES games to PES and Modern Warfare
