About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get organized around the house and with practical things. Take some short trips. Spend more time teaching music and strengthening bonds of friendship and family? Enjoy life.

ABOUT ME

HI, I'm pleased to meet you, most of the time...sometimes I need space, alone, quiet...well often...I work in a library, ha! But spending time with lovely people is one of the greatest joys of life. I love conversation and tea or coffee and am currently getting back into leisure sports! Frisbee, Bocci, horse-shoes....also chess and scrabble are hard to beat on an evening or afternoon.

PHILOSOPHY

Yes please....never took a philosophy class, but find it quite an engaging spectrum of exploration.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When the factors in my life work out, I like to host people for cultural exchange and networking. I enjoy providing hospitality and the refreshing viewpoint of seeing my adopted home-city through visitors, travelers, and newcomers.

Addendum....my landlord just asked me to stop hosting couchsurfers. He was concerned about his legal liability. If you've ever had this issue, I'd appreciate some input and feedback to continue with my hosting volunteerism.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well I've stayed on a lot of couches and other non-traditional surfaces in my life! I do at this point prefer a comfortable bed...but beggars can't be choosers as they say and if you are having enough fun and new experiences you can sometimes ignore some aches and pains eh?

Just for fun, my most ridiculous sleeping arrangement was more like a lack of sleeping when I left Nashville at 5pm and arrived 3 hours from Albuquerque at 3pm the next day with little sleep. This was on a poorly planned road trip helping my friend move out to LA. I'll have to tell you about it. Amazingly we still talk to each other once in a blue moon and in fact she has since moved back to Nashville!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
Jane Eyre, David Copperfield, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Sun also Rises, Catch-22

Music:

Classical radio, Q2 radio NYC (learned about via a couchsurfer), Youtube musical explorations, Imogen Heap, Anna Haas, Klezmatics, Evanescence, Folk traditions from around the world, Opera

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on the sub list for the American Institute of Musical Studies Festival Orchestra, and on my birthday I got a phone call asking if I wanted to go...Wow what a fun, engaging, and growing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to help others to appreciate orchestral and other "classical" music and get to deepen the benefit of interacting with different forms of art. This is something that continues to grow me. I like "teach and learn" new and review past perspectives....delve into memory, and "go where no one has gone before." :)

I'd like to learn about others' perspectives on life, and learn all sorts of old fashioned skills like shaving with a straight razor, pretty much anything that is really interesting I am interested in hearing about. You don't know what's out there unless you listen to whats going on around you, and go to new places!

What I Can Share with Hosts

swap stories/good conversation, cooking different ingredients than they usually hear about-maybe-don't want to assume....some Tough Buffalo attitude (ha...) and friendly Nashville vibe....

If I've got the violin, well we could perhaps do some duets or make some mad cash busking!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Hungary, Italy, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
