About Me

Easy going friendly and ever ready to show you around. Will accommodate as much as needed. Likes intellectual conversation, cooking, IPAs, movies with subtitles, taking pictures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and showing them around my city, especially all the weird places that would never find its way into a tourist catalog. I like people doing the same for me when visiting other places, and usually it has been people working at hostels or acquaintances but Couchsurfing looks like a promising option :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - Anything by Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Hanif Kuereshi, Milan Kundera. Other favorites include Persepolis, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Madame Bovary, A movable feast, Shantaram, The bell jar, and of course my eternal favorite - On the road.

Music - It changes a lot but I generally like Indie rock and jazz. In this day and age of easily accessible online music, its rare to have a defined taste in music. I do enjoy listening to albums on records. The last two records I bought were 'Gulag Orkestar' by Beirut and 'Prestige' by Coltrane. My favorite records are 'Masterpieces' by Duke Ellington, 'Belle and Sebastian write about love' by Belle and Sebastian and 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley.

Movies - French new wave, Old Italian movies and a bunch of the post 1990 Iranian movies. The best movies I watched in the last 30 days - 'About Elly' and 'Les dames du Bois de Boulogne' . I do watch a lot of contemporary Hollywood and Bollywood movies too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two things that moved me the most are the view of the pacific coastline from the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge and the view of the Indo-China border at 18000 ft. I like surreal things.
