About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live life to the fullest, experience everything that the world has to offer, and to travel around the world by bicycle and sailboat
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, and am addicted to travel. However, I always seem to come back no matter how far I go and for how long. It's like I have some sort of magnetic pull bringing me back to my hometown. My dream is to bike across all the continents and sail across the oceans, circumnavigating without using any fossil fuel for transportation - but I'm afraid I would be lonely and miss my friends if I went alone. So...I need to make friends who want to do this with me!
I play trombone in the band, What Cheer Brigade, based in Providence. We usually go on tour for one to two weeks every summer. I also can play piano, trumpet and drums, but I am really out of practice!
I run marathons and triathlons, and am trying to run a marathon in each state by the time I'm 50. Update: I actually haven't run a marathon since 2014 because of a hip injury, but I do hope to gradually work my way back up to this distance again without hurting myself.
I would love to be able to speak more languages fluently and communicate with more people easily.
I love both the mountains and the ocean, and mountain biking through the woods is one of my favorite activities currently. I would love to find a place to live that combines all of these features, maybe open a mountain biking hostel/rental company on the edge of a trail system where you can either climb several thousand feet up into the mountains or descend down to a private beach.
I'm never on time for anything...I'm always at least 15 minutes late to work, and I'm even late at leaving work! I'm very laid back and enjoy taking my time (especially with eating). However, when I'm running or biking or walking anywhere I usually go as fast as I can (probably because I'm always running late)
PHILOSOPHY
Life shouldn't be wasted on boring jobs just to make money. It should be as enjoyable of an experience as possible, and if you really want to, you can make things happen without money. I want to live my life as if it were going to be turned into a book or movie - I don't want it to be a boring story! Since you never know what's going to happen, I think you should take advantage of situations that turn up when they happen instead of waiting for some time in the future. If you wait, it will probably never happen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm currently in the midst of my bicycling/sailing adventure around the world, so I no longer have an apartment to host guests. As soon as I am settled somewhere, I will be sure to host as much as I can in order to give back for all the times I have surfed.
Since I cannot host you, I will still do my best to answer questions about where to go in Providence. I would also be VERY happy to give you suggestions of where to go in Montreal or New Orleans. I have made google maps of all three of these cities that highlight my favorite places (mostly food places).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have had only positive experiences so far. I've hosted people in Providence from such various locations as Germany, Belgium, Australia, Ohio, Georgia, Dublin, Washington DC, New Mexico and Baltimore.
Since I have started my bicycle trip I have couchsurfed with many more people and plan to continue couchsurfing throughout the journey! It has been a wonderful way to travel, and I have met so many awesome people along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
Pretty much everything...I do have a taste for science fiction and medical crime novels. I don't really watch tv and haven't seen too many movies. I usually fall asleep pretty quickly when watching or reading, and I seem to have a terrible memory for the things that I have seen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Riding a camel around the pyramids in Egypt
- SCUBA diving at Sharm El Sheik in the red sea, floating thru a dreamland of toilets (a ship that was carrying toilets before it was wrecked)
- Bike touring around Colombia - it's one of the most beautiful countries I've ever been to, with diverse landscapes, lovely people, and so many different climate zones!
- Working at a Kitesurfing school in Cabo de la Vela, teaching basic windsurfing classes and cooking with very limited resources (no running water or electricity, and very limited access to food ingredients). I would go back in a heartbeat!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can fix your bicycle for you.
I can make the best baklava you've ever tasted!
I'm always up for a run or hike or bike or any outdoor activity you desire..and I enjoy a good game of hackey sack.
I want to get better at windsurfing and kite surfing. I also want to try SUP yoga. I can't think of anything I wouldn't be interested in learning.
I would love to share a bike ride with you, whether in my town or yours. Mountain biking is the best!
I love salsa dancing - not sure I'm good enough to teach it, but I'm a good follower!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm always willing to pitch in for food and/or beer. I will help with cleaning, doing the dishes, etc - I can try to cook, but you might regret it. I'm much better at baking! I can help you fix your bike or give you advice if you're looking to get into biking or running. And, of course, I've got stories to share!
