Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Want to get the English/Spanish intercambio organised again in Marbella but need people who are interested in helping me organise as I'm a busy bee at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't know why or how it happened, but I managed to get invited to stay on a few couches whilst travelling through South America.
I once met a 14 year old Bolivian boy (so young!)who was travelling on the same bus as me from Sao Paolo to the Bolivian frontier to get to Santa Cruz - a journey of over 18hrs. After a million different incidents (most of which could be made into a film by the Cohen Brothers), we finally arrived at Santa Cruz where we were met by the boy's family. They invited me to stay with them, fed me and showed me around town. It was an experience I'll never forget.

Interests

I love learning new things: guitar, board games, golf(no I'm not retired, rich, or mad). I have even had a go at learning Chinese, but I'm a hands-on kind of person and need a teacher to help me.
I've recently been getting back on my bike and discovering the wonderful new cycle routes along disused railway lines around Andalucia. Want to come and join me?

Music, Movies, and Books

I really have been quite busy the past year:

Music

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine in London, November 2014
101 Sun festival Malaga July 2014
BBK festival Bilbao July 2015

Series:

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Shameless (American version)
True Detective
Firefly
Attack of the Titans

These are just some of the ones I've been watching this past year.

Books:

I like reading mainly fiction: sci-fi, historical fiction, but I'll read anything a friend would recommend so that just about includes everything except romance!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen and done more amazing things than I could possibly mention here so this week I'll name a few of my favorite moments in cities:

London in the city - Sunday early morning stroll around the city with no tourists or rush hour contemplating the architecture, history and tradition, walking across London Bridge while the sun starts warming up.

Florence, Italy one of the coldest winters in years - At the top of the Campanile looking across at the snow-covered Duomo and the rest of the picture postcard city.

Rome, Italy - Getting lost through the narrow streets of Rome and suddenly 'discovering' the Pantheon at night all lit up.

La Paz, Bolivia - Arriving by bus and seeing the Andes in the background and the city in the middle of the valley, winding our way down into the centre of it all.

Santiago, Chile - Flying into the city over the top of Aconcagua in the Andes.

Tokyo, Japan - The flight into the city is breathtaking, coming down over all the skyscrapers, twisting and turning to get into position for the impossible runway.
The first time I saw Shibuya 5-way crossing and the neon buildings all lit up at night with huge TV screens.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an English teacher but I also teach Spanish so I'm happy to practice either with you.

I'm really keen on learning guitar so I'm open for exchanges.

I'd like to share the wonderful places I like visiting in this area-especially hiking and biking. Nothing too strenuous though!
