About Me

CURRENT PROJECT

http://TravelWritingAdventures.com
http://TravelWritingPartners.com
... a crowd sourced travel project that provides those with a passion for travel to create a legitimate, tax deductible business. More than just writing possibilities are available and revenue share is up to almost 100%.

ABOUT ME

I run a business networking organization in Orlando...
http://ConnectionsGroups.com
...so I help people get connected for business purposes.

I also am self employed in sales and marketing for a financial management software system...
http://WorthClient.com

I live with my boyfriend, Chris, who is a commercial truck driver, and works odd hours. Depending on your length of stay with us... you might only see him a bit... but if he's here... he'll cook you some great food.

PHILOSOPHY

If anything can go right... it will. Life is one big "Karma Bank" ... you get out of it what you put into it. So make sure your contribution is fun, positive, passionate and designed to leave the world a little better off.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've had several couch surfers stay with us now! Such NICE people you all are!

We've had a young Frenchman who was hitchhiking around the world... 7 years total so far. He was going to stay for just a few days but was such a great guest we were happy he could extend. Come back Fabrice!

Also... had a nice couple from Tallahassee that were in town to learn how to swordfight... their hobby was being extras in movies so we got some "behind the scenes" stories about the Walking Dead.

Our last two surfers were the "Couch Singer" Shawn... who calls himself "voluntarily homeless" as he is retired and has spent the past several years couchsurfing 24/7 in Japan, France and the US. He has already been back a 2nd time as we asked him to help housesit while I was out of town. Shawn is an entertainer, does jazz and Sinatra genre, as well as some acting. He's a super great guest so send him a friend request! (Shawn Paris)

and then Miles... a super handsome young Chinese man who has been in the US for the last 5 years on a student and work Visa but who will have to go back to China in January. We hope he can come back to the US in the future... but are excited to have a new friend in Xian, where the famous Terracotta Soldiers are located.

My boyfriend Chris and I are hoping to go to NYC the week before Christmas, but so far have not found a place to stay. If you have one... shoot me a message! We are hoping the flights up aren't too booked as we are using free buddy passes on Spirit. If NYC doesn't work though... we might just pick some other interesting location Spirit flys and find some couches there.

Right now we have an AirB&B guest staying in our guest room so I had to put "unavailable" for a bit until we learn when she is leaving. As soon as we can though, we will be back to hosting as we LOVE meeting all the new and interesting people!

Interests

Very eclectic. Love motorcycles, music, wine, food, theatre and interesting experiences.

Lots to do in Orlando... when the weather is nice canoeing along our beautiful rivers is the best way to see the REAL Florida. If you've never been on one... an airboat ride should be on your bucket list as well.

For the adventurous... there are Hot Air balloon companies here in town... I know one of the better pilots. Costs some $, but another bucket item.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: Pulp Fiction, Pay it Forward, Brick, As Good as it Gets. MUSIC: Steph Carse, Van Morrison, Bill Miller, Angelo Jannotti. BOOKS: too many to list here... Poe, John Irving, Toni Morrison, Alexander Dumas. Favorite book of all time... "A Prayer for Owen Meaney"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, it's NOT travel related... but the most amazing thing was a bee colony that was moving to a new location and had stopped temporarily near my office. This HUGE mass of bees in this tear-drop shape with a circumference of about 4 feet and about 3 feet from top to bottom. I stuck my arm in the mass of bees up to my elbow. It felt like electric velvet.

Other cool thing... I let a baby llama chew on my hand for about a half hour (he was teething I guess), and the inside of his mouth was so soft... like non-electric velvet.

Oops... I guess maybe there's a trend here. As you can tell I like "critters." I do have pets... James, a small fluffy dog, a bearded dragon named Puff, and five friendly cats.

Teach, Learn, Share

Both Chris and I are pretty good cooks and love to share a nice meal and a conversation. Beyond that I'm a wealth of trivial information and have spend all my life in Florida, so know the state well, along with some of the more fun things to do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When WE are CouchSurfing (which we haven't done yet), OR when you are visiting us, we would love to cook for you. Both my boyfriend, Chris, and I are excellent cooks and we love to share a meal and wine with friends.

If you are hosting US... we would love to treat you to a day or meal out in your city... or we'll take you along sight seeing as our guest! We would love for people to share their favorite places with us!

For OUR GUESTS: We have a guest room, that has a TWIN bed only... so one surfer there. We also have a TV/office room that is sometimes available as well for shorter term couchsurfers (solo OR couples - LGBT friendly, of course). Reason it's only avail short term is we do have Chris's 14 year old son part time, so the room is not available when he is here.

The TV room has a big screen TV hooked up to Netflix and Amazon, as well as a futon couch with a queen size mattress that lays down for a bed.

We have a small lake with ducks on it in the back, and chairs and table for enjoying your morning coffee or breakfast amidst our garden. There is a swimming pool in the community that you'll be able to use, along with tennis courts and a nice jogging trail that goes around a lake... two laps is about a mile.

There are some restaurants within walking distance... a Wing/BBQ place with a bar, Asian place, and a 24 hour WalMart Market (grocery), but mostly you need a car to really get around here as public transportation is horrible and the closest bus stop is too far to walk. Of course... there is always Uber or Lyft!
