ABOUT ME

Hello my name is Verena

I am 25 years old and I come from Wuppertal, a medium sized town in Germany. After finishing high school I went to the north of Ghana where I worked as a volunteer during one year in a small, rural community. One of the most interesting and enriching experiences of my life. After coming back I intend to study political science in Poitiers, France. I think I am a very open, easy going and flexible person. From my travel experiences I learned to adapt to new situations and life styles. I had the chance to meet many great and helpful persons in my life so I try to treat everybody as friendly and helpfully as I have been treated by others in the past. I am very interested in making friendships, meeting and knowing peolpe from different backgrounds to broaden my own personal horizon. I talk and I laugh a lot, I am quite positive and spontaneous. On the other hand I always try to avoid conflicts and confusions; I prefer living peacefully with everybody around.

PHILOSOPHY

Everybody has a reason to be on this earth, everybody is important and everybody can contribute something to society. We should respect everybody even if the person does not correspond with our personal ideals and feel responsible for those who are in underprivileged situations.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think that couch surfing is a great idea to make people from different cultures come together and experience each other. I have been hosted by very kind people while searching for an accomodation in Poitiers. I also hosted some people, one of them is a good friend today.

I was received, I hosted and I met couchsurfer here in Poitiers. So far it has always been a really positive experience!!!

Interests

I am interested in many differents things. I enjoy cultural activities as cinema, theatre, literature and lectures, dance and expositions. I equally enjoy being in nature, biking, hiking and swimming. If I have time I read a lot and I practically all the time listen to the radio. I am fascinated by foreign cultures and religions so I enjoy travelling, meeting people and experiencing their cultural and religious values.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of Brazilian music (Samba, Bossa Nova, MPB, Forró e muito mais) Reggae and different types of african music
I currently love reading German classics such as Goethe and Schiller but normally read differend kinds of novels and non-fiction books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a truely rural ghanaian community and sharing the daily life with very humble but marvelous people was definitely the most amazing and memorable experience I have had so far!
