About Me
I'm an aspiring Irish author currently planning a trip around the United States!
I'm completing my second degree in Creative Writing (the first was in Lit - I'm sure you can tell why I work in retail!) and I've decided to take some time after my degree to see some of the world. I've always wanted to travel, but never found the time or the money before. So, I've decided to blow my savings and live a little!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm travelling on my own, so I'd like to meet other people and get a taste of 'American life' outside of the tourist trail. Really keen to go to local music nights, share home cooking, local reading nights, etc. I'm also travelling on a budget, so couchsurfing is hugely helpful for me in that regard!
Interests
Aside from writing, I'm also really into music. I sing in a blues and soul covers band in Glasgow, and that kind of music is my big love, but I'm also into folk, funk and anything with a beat.
Other passions include comic books and other nerdy sh*t, cooking, spending time with animals and ghost stories (going to be travelling with my tarot cards if you'd like a reading)

Music, Movies, and Books
Soul, Blues and Funk! I'm into all the classics, really and I'm always trying to find more. Some fav albums are Songs in the Key of Life, Dusty in Memphis, Back To Black (ofc), and anything by Bettye LeVette, Betty Davis Donny Hathaway or Donna Summer. Also in love with Janelle Monae.
My favourite movie is Moonlight, this weird indie film called Big Eden and the Judy Garland version of A Star is Born, which I watched a couple of weeks ago and am still recovering from. Also big Star Wars fan. The Baz Luhrman version of Romeo and Juliet and the soundtrack also both incredible!
Books are hard! I've loved pretty much everything Neil Gaiman has written and my favourite book of all time is probably Wide Sargasso Sea.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I auditioned for Game of Thrones when I was a teenager! What was amazing was my audacious lies to get in. The form asks you if you have horse riding experience (which I actually have, but it's been a long time now!) and if you have blacksmithing experience. Obviously, took my q from Joey Tribbiani and lied, said I had tons of blacksmithing experience and was never in Game of Thones...still bitter.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really just want to get a feeling for the local areas I'm visiting, so I'm happy to learn anything you'd be open to sharing!
What I Can Share with Hosts
A good laugh and banter, number one!
I'm a decent cook, so more than happy to exchange a home cooked meal for a space on your couch! I can teach you all about the political history and present of Ireland and any other parts of my culture you might be interested in. I edit and publish an on campus literary journal and worked previously for a small publisher, so happy to read and share advice on poetry or literature! I'm also a qualified spa therapist.
