About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the World, meet new wonderful people, and learn new life skills :)

ABOUT ME

********Any other girl backpackers need a travel companion?**********

Hello!

I am a 25 year old woman looking for an adventure. I have never been a helper before, but I am very much looking forward to my first experience! I, along with most people, would love to see the world, and this seems like a great place to start; getting to help people build their dreams and learn new skills in the process. I am open-minded and am on a search for self-discovery. I've had three semesters of college and I've worked full-time at a Charter call center for two years. Neither were for me. I yearn to be in, or near, wide open spaces and friendly people who don't judge. I love hiking, camping, bonfires and great music.

Working at a call center for two years obviously gave me the ability to answer phones and man a desk. I am polite and respectful. I am willing to learn just about anything as long as I don't have to hurt animals in the process. I can paint, do secretarial things, clean, and am very willing and interested in doing things outdoors. I love being outdoors. So, I can't say I know much about woodworking or gardening, but I'd love to learn! I am reading so much about "sustainable living" and I think it is a brilliant idea! I hope to learn about this and the more I read about all the different projects going on in different countries, the more I think I'd like to start somewhere and keep doing this for awhile. Seeing new places, meeting new people, and learning new skills; I can't wait to get a chance to have my first experience! Bottom line is I am open-minded and would love to find myself in a slower-paced environment with caring, friendly people and wilderness galore! :)

A few more things about me: I have been told I have a huge heart. I don't smoke nor have I ever tried smoking (I don't mind being around others who do. Everyone is different and has their own vices. Mine just happen to be chocolate and cheese. I believe in God. I was born in Kennewick Washington. Something interesting about me: I have a twin sister. My parents met in Boulder Colorado when my mom was 18 and my dad was 21. My dad proposed the first week they met and they were married 39 years when he passed. The Colorado area specifically speaks to me for this reason. Maybe I can find my path there too in the end :) I love love love animals!! My favorite animal is the unicorn (horses will do though ;)

Things I would be good at:
-caring for animals
-painting/preparing for the painting process
-cleaning and all housework
-mowing the lawn/weeding
-working outdoors
-being part of a caring group of people. I have a great sense of humor and I love just hanging out and listening to people's philosophies on life and love, then sharing my own ideas. I don't judge people and I hope to meet others who feel the same way. We are all just doing our best in this world, so why judge someone when you can befriend them?

Things that I would love to learn and be good at:
-gardening
-splitting wood
-making fences
-anything to do with sustainable living
-training/raising horses
-tiling and some carpentry
-just about anything!

Please contact me with any suggestions or questions you have! I can't wait to hear from you!!!

PHILOSOPHY

I am on my path to self-discovery currently, so my philosophy on life and love are still in their adolescent stages. I think during a lifetime people will reinvent themselves many times, building on each life experience and seeing the world from new perspectives constantly. I find that the people who have experienced a lot of hardship and different ways of life are by far the most interesting to talk to and become friends with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my first time even hearing about this site and HelpX. I think it's a brilliant idea and I wish I had heard of them both sooner!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed at two places in France and both were wonderful experiences so far :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love love love reading! The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King are some of the best books I've ever read! I also love laugh-out-loud books and don't even get me started on music! Music is life and I like a little bit of everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Grand Canyon; I'm not sure how anyone could not be awed by its awesomeness ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know you can only get a pimple in the same pore once?

*Google rocks my world
*I just recently purchased a Kindle Wi-Fi and it is the best thing since the invention of the wheel...or fire (whichever you think is the better invention). I read all the time and now I can have a new book (most of them for .99 in under 60 seconds!) Plus there is a site where you can swap books with other kindles for free!!! http://ebookfling.com)
*I would love my life to be played out in slow motion to some great music like in an 80's movie montage :)
*I recently found two new hobbies: collecting antique rosaries (late 1700's to early 1900's) and ancient Roman coins (most between 1500 and 2000 years old). I buy the coins uncleaned and go through the slow, tedious, restoration process that can take anywhere from a month to a few years depending on the coin and the amount of earth caked onto it and I love it! It's like finding a buried treasure when you get down to what it looked like when it traded hands over a thousand years ago! I love taking old things and bringing them to their former glory- boring for some, but a thrill for me :)
*On that note, wouldn't a great dream job be Treasure Hunting? lol...not realistic but still.
*I hate, hate, hate judgmental people! Everyone is just doing his or her best to get through this life while trying to find a little happiness along the way; it may just not be your way.
*I love Apple products- computers, iPhones, time capsules etc. They are worth the extra money and I think that people who say differently haven't owned one...but it's okay because everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
*I am a self-proclaimed dork and I like being different. I won't allow myself to play w.o.w. because it would literally consume my life lol
*I would rather take a few trips to other countries than buy a brand new car any day hands down.
*I kinda hate shopping, but when I do shop, I have discovered that I am very fond of EBay :)
*I am an extreme person. What I mean by that is that when I do something or like something, it is never in moderation. This is also the way that I love. It can be good, but it can be bad.
*I’m a hopeless romantic. No matter how many times I get burned I believe in true love and soul mates. I guess sometimes you just have to make all of the wrong decisions before you make the right one.
*I’m stubborn and it’s bad, but I know how to admit I’m wrong and I’ll do anything for those that I love.
*I’m kind of obsessed with my iPhone and Angry Birds
*I’m a Twi-hard. Team Edward all the way. (Although, I am mightily impressed with Jacobs’s abs. No lie ;)
*Being outdoors is one of my favorite things in the world. I could go hiking and camping everyday and be happy. Sometimes when I’m driving I’ll see a random meadow with a pretty tree or some flowers and I just want to go and run through it or lay a blanket out and just be.
*I think that this world is way too fast-paced and impersonal.
*I enjoy seeing new places and doing new things. I really want to try kite-surfing. (?you’re on a surfboard type thing and you are hanging onto a kite-sail?)
*I take naps-lots of naps.
*There is an answer for everything in music. Add a bonfire, good friends, and some alcohol and we have one of my top-ten favorite things.
*I’m a daddy’s girl and I miss him more than anything in the world. He was the most loving, giving, and selfless person I’ve ever met. He put family above everyone and everything else. He loved unconditionally, and he taught me who I want to be. I think about him everyday and I wish I could have him back around to kick my butt in another game of cribbage. (My favorite game :)
*My mom is my support team and my rationale. I don’t know what I’d do without her.
*Reading is my favorite escape, and a bubble bath is my preferred method of relaxation.
*Juice is excellent; wine is better.
*I love writing. Poems are a great release.
*Wisconsin is a beautiful state, but winter sucks. The only good thing about winter is snowboarding. I get depressed when I don’t see the sun for long periods of time. I love, love, love golden sunlight! It makes me happy just seeing it and the world just looks friendlier.
*I have the most amazing dogs, Willow and Pedro :) Now, Pedro is actually a cat, but he acts like a dog, so that counts right?
*I grew up Catholic and just recently found my way back to my faith. It feels great! I now do my rosary everyday and am working on strengthening my faith and also learning to love myself.
*Soccer, foosball and hacky-sack are awesome ways to pass time.
*I love chocolate and cheese. A girl from Wisconsin…go figure.
*I want to live in the world from Avatar and I’m tempted to eventually build a hobbit-house like in the ‘Shire.’ Round doors and windows- I just like the idea. :)
*I will never fully grow up. In my head and heart I think I’ll always be in my late teens to early-twenties, which varies depending on my mood and the situation.
*My favorite humor is shock-factor. The less appropriate it is being said out-loud, the funnier I will probably think it is. (Lewis Black~February in Boston, Dave Chapelle~ His white friend Chip, Dave Chapelle~ Being taken to the ghetto, Dave Chapelle~ Terrorists, pretty much all of Always Sunny in Philadelphia.)
*I have some crazy dreams. Not too long ago I had a sword fight with one of my exe’s moms in my dream. (The swords were light sabers.) I kicked some butt ☺
