About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Always grow, dance, eat, love, learn. Look for lessons in everything that happens, and appreciate the small joys that are all around me.
ABOUT ME
I love to laugh! I'm in a torrid love affair with life and hope you are too, and what better way to really experience it than to meet other people and see other lands?
I love to travel (of course) and meet wonderful new people, and other interests include scuba diving, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, writing, dancing, reading, partying...I enjoy most things.
I love to share good meals. I love to drink wine on the beach, or at a nice dinner. Actually, I like to drink wine in general, no matter where I am!
I was working as a Registered Nurse in mental health and addictions until last year, but I started medical school two years ago so I am perpetually in school when not traveling. Getting itchy feet again so I'm figuring out when to place my next trip!
PHILOSOPHY
Be here now. Be kind, enjoy the beauty around you, and contribute to it in any way you can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Met some incredible people abroad who I still care deeply for. Although I can't host at this time, I am more than thrilled to meet up and show you my town and the beautiful hiking, kayaking, skiing and snowshoeing that are nearby, or just head out for a drink or a coffee :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met the most beautiful girl in the world in Quito, Ecuador. Stayed on her couch and had the best time. Showed me the city, taught me things I never would have known otherwise- I think she's brilliant.
A year later I had to stay overnight in Seattle to catch a plane at 6am, and Hilary not only gave me a comfy place to sleep, she woke up at 3:00am and drove me to the airport!!! (this was after we'd stayed up until midnight talking about our travels, of course)
My third experience was San Jose, Costa Rica and I can't even describe the adventures we had. One very rainy day we bought some rum and whiskey and hopped a fence into a farmers field and drank under a tree, then broke into a country club and hung out in their gazebo under the cover of darkness. The two guys who were also CS at that house are now my really great friends who I keep in touch with regularly.
My fourth experience was in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and I had such a wonderful time I came back with my husband a year later to see my new hermana (my host). Temazcal, activist concerts in the square, memories never to be forgotten.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sunsets, rainy days, cherry blossoms, moss, the view of Quito from a hostel terrace, the ocean as I stood in it, petting jellyfish, going to Bear Lake when I was little and waking up early enough to see the mist over the water, horseback riding and hiking through the mountains/forest/waterfalls in Vilcabamba (Ecuador), unexpectedly turning the corner and seeing Machu Picchu, sandboarding, scubadiving, long bus rides, trying to salsa dance and failing miserably, drink fresh coconut in the jungle, seeing fireflies for the first time when I was in the forest in Bolivia, being invited to and taking part in a Temazcal, feeling the amazing love and magic that this world has to offer!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach- random healthcare skills, beginner Spanish, any level of English, making hemp necklaces...can also offer up good late-night conversations and I've got a second pair of snowshoes
Learn- happy to learn any different type of skill!
