ABOUT ME

I like to meet new people! Especially while traveling and experiencing new things and places. I have a bad case of wanderlust and have yet to really find a place in which I plan to stay put.
I was born and raised in Oregon, a beautiful part of Northwest America, and despite the rain, I will always hold a special place in my heart for this green gem. I suppose being from Oregon might be the root of my love for microbrews. Some of the best beer (in my humble opinion) is brewed in my hometown.
I currently live in central Japan where I work with monkeys, I mean Japanese kids, at an international kindergarten. It's lovely here, but I'm not sure I will ever get used to the Japanese working style and I will definitely never get used to the number of hours they work! I guess that's why I will be moving on in March to try my luck in Europe :)

And now for a slew of random things about me:
I often think that in my next lifetime I would like to be a dolphin. I am not religious, but I am open minded and I love all perspectives.I love chocolate, but any sweet would do. I eat Mexican food all the time (or I did before I moved to Japan...)!! If you want to be my friend just make me a burrito. My favorite vegetable is broccoli and corn on the cob is runner up. Blue, green, and yellow are very nice colors, purple too, and red... oh heck, they are all nice! I like puzzles and board games; challenge me any day to a round of Quelf, Pandemic, Settlers, you name it. I love dogs! Especially labs, of course I am a little biased since I grew up with one. Music makes the world go round. I play the guitar and love to write ridiculous songs. I really enjoy going out at night for a few drinks and lots of dancing, I used to Irish dance, I hate to exercise the normal way in a gym, but I enjoy swimming, running, biking, hiking, or whatever gets my heart pumping that doesn't involve a stair master. I love the great outdoors! Camping/Backpacking in the summer is a must in Oregon and you can't keep me away from the mountains or a lake for longer than a few days. I love ginger flavored things and cinnamon too. And lastly, I love my name (Summer Rose, in case you forgot)!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been on a bit of a hiatus from the couchsurfing website and although I have done my fair share of surfing, I have only officially hosted once. I hope to continue surfing and host my first surfer at my place here in Japan

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first CS experience in Segovia, Spain with a group of very friendly Brazilians. They really showed me how hospitable people can be to complete strangers. Since then, I've used Couch Surfing a few times although I've managed to find a couch to crash on many times outside of this site as well.

Interests

Travel (I guess all CSers say that so no surprise there), languages (I'm currently studying Dutch), the outdoors (hiking, camping, backpacking), meeting interesting people, experiencing new things (whatever that means), music of all sorts (especially live), guitars and pianos, I love art, Architecture, FOOD (eating it mostly, but definitely cooking too!)
