ABOUT ME

Well traveled and now well settled in Andalusia, Spain. It really is that freaking awesome! I love the community spirit and the fact that everyone looks out for each other. I adore this god damn place!
When I was 20 I returned from India from a 3 months soul searching trip and decided to join the Royal Marines Commando's, where I ended up serving over 6 enjoyable years. Yep... I think I smoked a little too much pot in India lol!
Approaching 7 years service, my desire to travel took me away from that environment altogether and I went back to India, this time for 4 months cycling with my brother through the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
I have since lived and worked in Australia and New Zealand for around 3 years and then spent 3 years driving coaches throughout Europe for an 18-30's tour company called Topdeck Travels (Check em out!). I then moved on to take on a new challenge, working in the private maritime security sector (anti-piracy) which I continue to do in 2018.
In 2016 I re-located from Cambridgeshire to the the Sub Tropical region of Andalusia, Spain. This place offers everything from mountains, the coast, important historical cities such as Granada and Sevilla as well as a lots of activities such as wreck diving, climbing, great cycling both on and off road. Hell man this has got to be one of the best unsung gems on the planet! Located 45 mins to Granada city and airport. Malaga Airport is just one hour away. Beaches are 20 mins away from our location.

PHILOSOPHY

Being nice to people is the key to happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To meet awesome people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met some amazing people in NZ through couch surfing. Ended up racing motorbikes and drinking port that was bottled in 1945! That was in 2011. Now I have my own house and want to have some amazing travelers visit us!

Interests

Just discovered how cool snow boarding is. I'm very active and don't like to be sat down for too long. Love cycling, hiking, cooking, reading and learning. Music is my medicine!
Been a pescatarian for 15 months and considering becoming a vegetarian. I have vegan friends and am intrigued about taking it to the next level! Every day is a school day!
I love the outdoors and am blown a away by the beautiful landscape outside my front door. I live just outside the town of Vélez de Benaudalla, 15 mins from the coast. Come visit!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling around Southern India for 4 months in 2007 was a great life changing experience. The friendly local people that I met in and around the small villages of Tamil Nadu and Kerala were lovely.
Doing volunteer work in an elephant sanctuary in Northern Thailand was a humble and rewarding experience.
Playing chess with an Argentinian monk for a few days, perched on the side of a mountain in a hut the size of a garden shed, was one fantastic and memorable experience.
A tandem skydive over the Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland on a crystal clear winter's day was one of the most breathtaking things I have ever seen.

I would love to help people who are learning English and would definitely exchange English lessons for Spanish lessons in return!
