About Me
Update 10/2022:
This profile is about 10 years old, so I’m like a little bit calmer now, but those things still ring true. Settled now in Asheville, loving it. Those pictures are old too. I’ll try to update more, but don’t expect much. I AM trying to get that response rate up, so be patient with me. :P
CURRENT MISSION
to experience: people, cultures, geography, joy, books, love, encounters, senses, wildness
ABOUT ME
I like to dance through life. I think about things a lot, and I seek balance. I like doing things that are exhilarating and wild, but I also enjoy calmer times of tranquility. I love people more than anything in this world and I'll try to help you out!
PHILOSOPHY
"You have to be always drunk. That's all there is to itâit's the only way. So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually drunk.
But on what? Wine, poetry or virtue, as you wish. But be drunk.
And if sometimes, on the steps of a palace or the green grass of a ditch, in the mournful solitude of your room, you wake again, drunkenness already diminishing or gone, ask the wind, the wave, the star, the bird, the clock, everything that is flying, everything that is groaning, everything that is rolling, everything that is singing, everything that is speaking. . .ask what time it is and wind, wave, star, bird, clock will answer you: "It is time to be drunk! So as not to be the martyred slaves of time, be drunk, be continually drunk! On wine, on poetry or on virtue as you wish."
-Charles Baudelaire
I really love this poem, and I think it captures a valuable spirit.
I think conversation is important, as well as wildness.
I want to live a deep, rich life, with a wide array of experience. City, forest, country, suburb, beach, bungalow, treehouse, farm...
I always seek to be flexible and adapt to any situation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING Well, for one, I don't get verified. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it, I'll just probably never have 20 extra dollars and think, "Hey, I should verify my CS profile." ^^^Man, I wrote this a long time ago... now it's $60?? I guess one day they'll force us to pay for CS, but I'm gonna hold off until the bitter end. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE My buddy Sam and I stayed with a host couple in Clemson, SC, and had a wonderful time. We also stayed with someone in Barcelona. Another positive visit. We stayed with an incredible beyond incredible family in Belgium. I left their place a changed person. We stayed with some incredible people in Lyon, and our three day stay was full of dancing. We stayed with tons of people in Athens, including Alex, one of the chillest, most intelligent hosts. And, okay, we've couchsurfed tons of other times and it's incredible. Update: For some reason, Couchsurfing seems to think I don’t have much experience. Don’t believe what you see in the experience section, I’ve hosted and surfed countless times in countless places and I'm super passionate about radical hospitality.

Teach, Learn, Share
I don't know that I'm any wiser than anyone, but I do think it's important to share thoughts and knowledge. Here goes:
-There are many things in this world that are better than money. In fact, MOST things in this world are better than money.
-Please just have a job doing something you love, or at least something can grow from. If you spend most of every day doing something you hate, you will be spending MOST of your life doing something you hate. Then you become a hateful person and we don't like being around you.
-We gain nothing by getting mad about stupid things.
-Absorb.
-Simplicity is important
-Seize the day
