I am an older, single female. All of my children have grown up and left the house and now I want to explore the world and learn about new places, things, people, cultures and languages.
I can be adventurous, but I'm also getting older so I don't know how much I can really do anymore. I love old architecture and history, trees, water, mountains and beaches.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has been recommended to me by two friends who are doing it now and have done it in the past; they highly recommend it not only for the benefit of cost reduction, but to also be immersed in culture and to see locations new to me in ways that tourists typically do not. I have to admit that I'm not really great at figuring out what to go see in new places and generally book tours. I'd like to see more of the world than through a tour. I also read a blog of a backpacking traveller who highly recommends Couchsurfing for these same reasons.

Interests

Old architecture, trees, mountains, beaches, art, history, culture& history of culture. I enjoy hiking, mountain biking and motorcycle riding. I would like to go zip lining - I've done that before on a very small zip line and it would be fun to do it again on a larger scale. I'm open to new adventures. I also enjoy refinishing old furniture and making it fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - a wide range of interests.My favorite song right now is "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor.
Books - I love the Divergent series, The Hunger Games series, into Lisa Gardner (Murder/Mystery/Cop). Mostly reading educational or self-help books right now.
Movies - I'm finding that movies are less interesting to me now than they use to be. I prefer to read the books. As far as TV goes, though, I enjoy The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and I am currently addicted to the series "Bones".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This may not sound so amazing to most travelers who do couch surfing, but it was a big deal to me and my "starting off" point for traveling more. I really needed a vacation and no one could go with me, so I booked a cruise, alone. I went to Jamaica, The Grand Caymans, and Cozumel. It was the best experience I ever had.

I don't quite know what to put in this space. I'm willing to share whatever information, knowledge, skills or talents that others might find useful.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing and able to help with household chores. Not great at fix-it stuff - that's why I've decided I shouldn't be a home owner myself. I use to cook all the meals for my family (5 children), but it has been awhile so I may be rusty, but I'm willing to try if you're willing to be a guinea pig lol. I speak English, I can share that if it is needed or wanted. I enjoy gardening; I can help with that. Again, I will share or offer whatever I have to give you.
