ABOUT ME

I've been lucky enough to travel around quite a lot. I'm hoping to never stop doing this!

My husband and I moved to Austin about 7 years ago after teaching in South Korea for 1 1/2 years (it's where we met!). A few years ago we bought a house in Kyle, a little town about 20 minutes south of Austin, and have recently had a baby which is why we're not able to host right now.

I'm originally from Iowa so I have a Midwest state of mind. I've lived in 4 countries besides the USA and have done a lot of traveling while I was there. I'd like to think this has made me very open-minded and interested in different cultures and people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've dabbled in a little bit of every part of CSing: I've couch surfed, hosted, and joined in a couple meet-ups.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have a favorite movie, but in general I usually choose comedy or action films. When it comes to music, it's whatever I'm in the mood for at the time. I could go from classical to pop to acoustic in a single car ride! I actually listen to audio books quite often, though. My favorite book series is Harry Potter.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was able to bungee jump off the Victoria Falls bridge (2nd highest bungee jump in the world from a bridge). 111 meters is a long way to fall!

Teach, Learn, Share

I hopefully have a lot to offer! I'm working on my Spanish and in the future hope to add French and Italian to the list. I can give lots of travel advice, especially for Western Europe, SE Asia, and Southern Africa. Since I've lived in/near Austin for several years now, I can offer advice on what places to check out or even tag along if I have the time!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd like to think I'm a great conversationalist with plenty of stories to keep my host entertained. I also love to hear about others' adventures. I'm not too shabby at cooking and crafty things; when staying with someone, I try to cook at least one meal to share. I also know some Spanish and American Sign Language and would be happy to share these languages with anyone who wants to learn!
