ABOUT ME

I'm Shouyi(Nick name Sunny). Earlier I had lived in Cologne for one year as an exchange student, that's when I started my couchsurfing experiencefrom .
Staying in China for the past two years, I was kind of suppressed by the fast pace in the cosmopolitan of Guangzhou (the third largest city in China, adjacent to Hongkong) and haven't been using this website for a while. Now Again I'm back in Germany, working as a volunteer Chinese teacher in Erfurt, a small city in the middle of Germany. Not having so many chances to meet young people here in this city, I feel that couch surfing could be a good platform for me to meet young locals and better experience every destination.

The following paragraph is the introduction I wrote almost three years ago. Although I felt I changed and grew a lot in recent years, I still wanna keep it, not only because I don't want to abandon that part of my past, but also because the essence of me would not change even if I'm much maturer now.

People who know me often say I'm exactly the same "sunny" as the name suggests----full of energy, always smiling, very active and warming. I love meeting people from different cultural backgrounds, nice conversations with them always give me the pleasure that excites my brain:) Generally speaking I would use three words to evaluate myself: passionate, emotional and critical(not in daily life). It's not all about me, you need to discover more!

.PHILOSOPHY

Life is a wonderful journey:) always being young, always on the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about CS and some amazing stories long time ago when I was in China. Now I'm in Europe doing an exchange year myself, I finally got the chance to participate in it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted some great exchange students in Cologne and have been hosted by some amazing hosts in Germany and Switzerland. I enjoy the role of being a host and a surfer, both of which would impress me. For me the people I meet are usually more important than the sceneries I see.
I recently traveled to Dresden and Prague alone and did couchsurfing, I would say I got more understanding about CS as well as life thanks to this amazing journey! There were some learning moments during my stay with my host, which impressed me and gave me the idea what I want to do in the future. As I wrote in Facebook after this journey: "I find the things I'm passionate about and I would like to fight for for the rest of my life because of this CS journey, isn't it amazing?" Now I really love CS, and I would say I really think I've grabbed the spirit of CS.

Interests

I like reading and some sports(jogging, climbing mountains and so on). enjoy meeting people from different cultural backgrounds, they always give me inspiration!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Working for an NGO which focuses on the "left-behind children" in China
2. Making some adventures such as hiking for 24 hours or climbing and camping on the mountain
3. Being an exchange student in Germany for one year
4. Participating in CS

Teach, Learn, Share

I like cooking Chinese food and I'm fluent in Chinese. Guess it would be something that I can teach. (Quite likely I'm going to be a teacher teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages in the future) Yes it's funny but three years later I am working as a volunteer Chinese teacher:)
I worked in an NGO coping with the difficulties the "left-behind children" in China faces, so stuff like NGO development and social welfare would be something I'd like to discuss and share.
Of course I myself is a language learner, curious about the world and different culture, so basically I would like to learn something more about other cultures including their language and cooking:D
