ABOUT ME
I am learning Spanish, and so far - its a beautiful language with a lot of verb tenses. My favorite word so far is 'amarillo', I think it sounds like the color it means (yellow). I like meeting new people - I'm pretty chill and get along with most folks. I like to be outside and I dig gardens (oop a pun!), mountains and oceans. I love my mama, she is an amazing woman. I don't eat meat and enjoy discussing food issues (meat/ no meat, local/ imported, organic/ non organic) because food is important, to our bodies, to economies, to environments. I have a cheesy sense of humor. Yoga is good for my body and my mind. I like to make things: out of yarn, paper, words, stuff people throw away. I think that Costa Rica needs a recycling program. Birth is a mind bending concept, concentrated joy and pain and LIFE - one day I would like to become a midwife. I think that most religions of the world are about the same thing: translating the divine into something humans can understand, and creating a set of guidelines for living a healthy and happy life. The world is not black and white. Does that mean that there is no right and wrong? I cry when I am very happy, very sad, very frustrated, or a combination of all three. I've found that getting lost is the best way to find myself. Smiling changes the world, even smiling to yourself. This is actually true, smiling triggers seratonin release in your brain! Are you smiling right now?? Brains are cool.
PHILOSOPHY
I used to spend summers working at a summer camp for kids with disabilities in Squamish, BC. This experience introduced me to some of the bravest, most incredible humans I have met thus far and taught me a few things about this life. Every moment is a beautiful thing, and represents an opportunity. I have been given some amazing gifts (such as two legs that work really well), and now its up to me to use them. Playing and being creative should never be underestimated - children are free and we were all children once, our child selves need to come out sometimes! Every human has something to say and to share, life deserves respect no matter what form it takes. Humans are delicate -our bodies are these amazing feats of balance and cooperation, and they can be destroyed so easily. Our minds are powerful, and are limited only by the idea of limitations. Loving each other is real important.
