Master student living in Germany traveling around working on refugee policy. It's been a crazy two years traveling as part of my program and I would love to share stories in person. All the info below is when I lived in San Francisco.

ABOUT ME

I've traveled throughout South America, Europe and Asia, living in Thailand, Argentina, German, Vietnam and Japan along the way. Many of my friends currently host Couchsurfers and I have met many along the way that were amazing people.

As for our house, we have 3 people doing completely different things. I work with at risk kids at a nonprofit. One roommate is a photographer for concert events (he knows when a lot of shows come up) and my other roommate is a Luthier (he builds custom acoustic and electric guitars from scratch). We all play musical instruments so if you like to play guitar, bass or piano we have instruments. On most nights we just get drunk and play music (or board games, specifically Clue haha). We all have lived abroad as well. It's a warm, creative, fun and loving environment and I am truly lucky to call this place home. Hopefully you can too for a while!

Lastly, don't be a douchebag. We aren't dbags so we respectfully request you leave your bags at the door when you come in so to speak :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are high energy, welcoming and open hosts that have above all else a curiosity about other people and their cultures. There are other forms of communication besides language and we love the challenge of finding that medium with our couchsurfers (i.e. through music, non verbal gestures, pointing, drawing things out and my favorite one: acting things out).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some amazing people through hosting and just simply meeting up.

PLEASE NOTE: We get many requests to surf. So if I don't answer right away, I'm not doing it on purpose. Having said that, we are selective about who we host. We typically accept guests that don't view Couchsurfing as just a free place to stay. We will go out of our way to show you this great city but we also want to learn about where you are from and your background. A true cultural exchange so to speak. It also doesn't hurt to bring beer haha.

Reading A Confederacy of Dunces right now. Hiroki Murakami is an interesting read too. Read a lot of magic realism in high school that I liked (House of the Spirits, Like Water for Chocolate, Chronicles of a Death Foretold, Bless Me Ultima).
