About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
ABOUT ME
I am an artist (painter) first and foremost, but I have made my living in sales and as a graphic designer. My more interesting talents include solving a Rubik's cube in less than three minutes, juggling, and playing the saxophone. My nerdiest qualities include knowing everything about ancient Egypt, a level 90 character in World of Warcraft (a Night Elf Hunter), and I used to breed and keep Crested Geckos.
Things I love: Coffee, women, getting just the right amount of sleep, my UCLA sweatpants, organic peanut butter, camping, overcoming physical challenges, Belgian beer, playing rugby, animals, going to raves, non-fiction, making things out of other things, Jameson, deep sincere conversation, snacks, learning about survival, meeting new people, California, avocados, wool socks, Burt's Bees chapstick, and rainbows.
I'm direct. Straight-forward. I am a terrible liar. I also share too much of the truth. This doesn't cause as much trouble as one might think.
I played rugby for 5 years, having previously been a band geek. My life is now marked by several bold shifts in identity. Not too long ago, I was prepared to work the next ten years of my life at a desk, a slave to student debt. Instead, I've decided to travel around the world--indefinitely.
PHILOSOPHY
"Memories are scattered all over the immense world, and it takes voyaging to find them and make them leave their refuge." - Milan Kundera
As far as life goes, I believe you get what you put in, treat people how you would like to be treated, and happiness is only real when shared.
I view this as a project that I have created for myself. It is a lot like a 2-year graduate program only I made it up myself and there is no coursework or fancy degree at the end. The sole motivation is the curiosity in how I will be changed when I come out on the other side of this.
Oh and I'll try anything twice. Except for traveling in Europe in the winter.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travel and sleep on people's couches or floors or beds at the moment. But I am excited to become a host when I find myself paying rent somewhere again.
I actually attended an engagement party at the couch surfing headquarters in San Francisco in 2012. From what I observed and considering my predisposition to sharing talents, art, knowledge(and things about myself) I suspect I will fit right in.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Good friends of mine were avid couch surfing hosts.
Indeed, I met many great people and have no negative experiences to speak of. Everyone was very polite and fun, respectful and generous. I intend on paying those experiences forward as a guest.
Interests
learning new things, gaining premature wisdom, internet memes, art history, camping, riding my bike, coffee, challenges, shopping for outdoors gear, eating delicious things, accumulating odd talents and skills, impressing people, Magic the Gathering, 7 Wonders (board games in general), improving my posture, being a good person, making people laugh, painting, reading good books, making things out of other things, and playing rugby.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all the music. My dad was a DJ when I was growing up so I have had more exposure than most people my age. I know a lot about it and it is something I love to talk about.
As for books, my favorite book is the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane followed closely by Dharma Bums. Others include: Deep Survival, the Unbearable Lightness of Being, Still Life with Woodpecker, On the Road, A Short History of Nearly Everything, The Alchemist, and all of Harry Potter. I also really enjoy books on current events and other non-fiction. I am, after all, a nerd at heart.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Performing in Carnegie Hall, seeing Florence + the Machine at Coachella 3rd, row center in 2012, and trying Ayahuasca.

I can talk at length about the following: Ancient Egypt, Music, Movies, Philosophy, San Francisco, coffee, and internet memes.
