About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I will soon be the prodigal son to formal tertiary education.

ABOUT ME

I've been out of my motherland a lot recently. Spent two months in Haiti in the Winter/Spring of 2011, where I met and fell in love with my girlfriend. We lived 3 months in America, and did a fantastic road trip. After that, I joined her in Australia (her motherland) for a year, and had an amazing time. Went back to America in November '12. Now, I'm in Canberra with my girlfriend, and will start school next year to become a nurse. I just need to work out the best way to make that happen.

Other tidbits: I am vegetarian, and something of a dairy and egg snob. But, I am also a hospitalitarian, and won't turn my nose up to people's generosity.

I have a bad memory. Long term friends hear the same stories again and again. But, most people I meet here will only see me a handful of times, so every story is new to you!

I tend to be quiet around new folks, but I've been working on opening up sooner.

PHILOSOPHY

Something about making other people happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to a lot of CS meetups in St. Louis, Melbourne, and now Canberra. The city groups are a great resource for meeting new people and doing fun, possibly new things in your own city. I like to check out the message group for whatever city I travel to, so I can find out what's going on. It's like tapping into a pool of new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a couple times and had some people stay with me. Let's keep the cycle going.

Once, I had one guy couchsurf at my place, on his way West for a big road trip that ended in California. Well, I had been wanting to go out West for awhile, and he let me hop in the car with him and join in the adventure! Great memories were made.

Interests

Bicycling. Thrift store shopping. Dumpster diving. Sports played non-competitively. Homebrew (only attempted a few times). Being Nomadic. Making drinks that everyone else thinks is gross (mixed drinks, hopefully not the homebrew). Short stories. Making presents as opposed to buying them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to avoid books until my early twenties. Now, I read slowly and infrequently, but I'm making it happen. Not sticking to any genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being steps away from lava flow on the Big Island in Hawaii. It was night and I got to watch the glowing orange river lazily flow into it ocean.
Helped build schools in Haiti after the earthquake.
