About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I believe that somewhere in my travels I will find what I am looking for in life: my place in the world!

ABOUT ME

I kind of hate writing about myself, but here goes:

- I work for the National Park Service, so am one of those people with the ranger uniform and big hats you see walking around downtown Boston.
- I have a B.A. Modern Languages (Italian, Portuguese) and Anthropology (with emphasis on Archaeology) and just completed my M.A. in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Management.
- Reading is my passion, what I would do day and night if it were not necessary to make some money to pay the rent. José Ángel Buesa is my favortite poet. My other literary interests at present include: Outlander series (Diana Gabaldon), A Song of Fire and Ice series (George R.R. Martin), and the Wheel of Time series (Robert Jordan). As you can see, I'm a major sci-fi/fantasy junkie...Such a nerd, I know.... =P
- In LOVE with everything ITALIAN: the food, the culture, the people, the music, the very language. I don't know why; it is an innate attraction I have had all my life....Maybe I was just born in the wrong place.

PHILOSOPHY

Think as though you were going to live forever, but live as though you were going to die tomorrow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I talk to just about anyone who will listen about my great experiences here. Most are still a little unsure about the whole concept, but I'm sure I'll bring them around sooner rather than later with the help of all of you wonderful CSers out there. Sadly, I haven't really been very involved in CS of late, but am hoping to make a comeback! I've yet to live in a place that would allow me to host, but someday *fingers crossed* that will change.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before joining CS, I had only had done something similar on very informal occasions, staying at a friend of a friend's place while abroad....that kind of thing. Since experiencing CS first-hand, I recommend it to everybody I know, even if they think I'm crazy for going to strangers' homes while traveling. I've managed a few "converts," actually, and they all agree this can be life-changing.

Interests

Classical music, theater, foreign and indie films, languages, cultures, museums, international relations (politics), poetry, literature, history, archaeology....too many things. My life consists of learning as much as possible about everything that comes my way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Racing through the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, about half an hour before closing time, in search of Degas's "Swaying Dancer (Dancer in Green)." When I finally found it, it was so much smaller than I had expected...but so much more beautiful as well. I just stood staring at it, awestruck, tears streaming down my cheeks, until a museum employee started rounding everyone up so they could close up for the day. It was the first time a work of art completely overwhelmed me.
