À propos de moi

Couchsurfing is DEAD! Those who use it for their own travel but never host killed it!

Do I have your attention? Hello! I'm a CS Pioneer as some might say and I want to make friends and explore cultures all over the world. I am always looking to connect with people from all walks of life that are intelligent positive thinkers. Please note I always give preference to CSers who host in their home country.

PLEASE READ MY PROFILE! PLEASE READ MY PROFILE! PLEASE READ MY PROFILE!

Generic copy and paste requests will be DECLINED! It will be obvious in your message if you did not read my profile and by entire profile that means everything including info under "My Home." I also try to give preference to those surfers who host or offer to host me in their home country.

CURRENT MISSION

Make friends all over the world.

ABOUT ME

I seriously get at least 5-10 couch surfing requests per week (make that 5-10 or more a day in summer!) and unfortunately I cannot host everyone who contacts me. Certain times of the year are extremely busy for me but I try to leave my couch availability as "Maybe" as things may open up. Feel free to contact me anyway but understand I may not be able to host.

I also would like to mention I believe CS is the perfect way to travel and get a taste for what the people as well as the place is really like. In my opinion, it's not a means of living somewhere for free until you land a job or find a place to live because you're relocating to that area (so if this is your main purpose for couch surfing please choose a different host to contact and for their sake please make your intentions for the use of couch surfing clear to them).

One last thing...everyone in your party needs a CS profile. An empty profile with 1 pic and hardly any content about who you are and what you're about is just as bad as no profile at all. CS should be about connecting people and cultures. The success of the CS project depends on people to give back and not just take from it. Without a profile you're basically saying you're going to use CS for your own travel needs but never give back the project in the form of hosting or meeting up with travelers to tell them about your own city when you're back at home. It's often unusual for travelers in a group to be roommates in their home country and it makes sense for everyone to have their own profile (it can also benefit travelers in the group as they can break up sending out requests amongst each other haha). But seriously this needs to work both ways in order for CS to continue on and last (please don't burnout us generous hosts). I felt I needed to make this addition after sending out my own CS requests for hosts only to see an absurd number of profiles that were basically abandoned by their owners after they had used it only for their own travel and forgotten all about it after their trip. It's not a requirement but I also strongly encourage you to host. Chances are you're a new CouchSurfer looking for a place to stay reading my profile. Hey that's fine and that's how most people find out about CS. But try to give back to the community by hosting in your own country. You're using it for your own travel so do your part to keep the project alive. Now that's out of the way let's get to the good stuff...

I'm a surf instructor, also a craft brewer at one of the coolest little brewers in the world, who lives in a really beautiful place: Southern California right at the beach! It's amazing here but I still long to travel and experience new places. I haven't traveled too much outside of the US but I certainly want to see other parts of the world. Places I want to visit are Belguim, Japan, England, France, Czech Republic (maybe for beer), Germany (of course for beer!) for starters. I also want to visit islands like Tahiti. My most recent international trip was to Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice - as well as a private island off the coast of Venice! All places were great!) There is so much to see and do in this world. I have good friends in many countries all around the world I plan to travel to see them all in the future. I've had roommates from France, Italy, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, and Germany. My current roommate is a post-doc from Germany. She's the 4th German roommate I've had!

I am in love with all forms of art and make art a part of my everyday life. Whether it be writing, painting, drawing, conversation, playing guitar, I enjoy each and everyday of life. I'm passionate about life and always find the positive side to each situation. I use to work at a non-profit that assists children and adults with disabilities. It was great to make a positive impact on a daily basis. I'd like to find the same kind of experience on this site. I'm INFP which is supposedly rare if you're into the whole Myers-Briggs thing.

I grew up skateboarding and surfing and when I can afford it I do like to go snowboarding during the season. I love the art/science of making beer and brew frequently so if you visit me you'll probably be able to try beers I created. Right now is a wonderful time for craft beer and people, especially in San Diego. It may sound crazy but the beers coming out of San Diego are influencing brewers all over the world! I also have a garden where I grow lots of tasty organic things to eat! I'm a genuine friend and looking for cool people to make friends with all over the world! Also I am an annual passholder for Disneyland AND Walt Disney World. I love the parks and want to visit Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I know San Diego very well so could be a great resource on the area and fun things to do while you're here. I also live at a really happening and beautiful beach area (think California beach that you see on TV).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS brings to world to your doorstep and you can let those guests see the town through your eyes. It's also a way to keep us all connected and reminds us no matter where we come from we all share many of the same values (like be good to each other!). I've been on CS since it started and hosted many couch surfers from all over the world. I haven't used it to surf much so that part is up to you if you're considering me as a guest. I love to learn about other cultures and connect with people (especially over a good beer).

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I have so much music! I was listening to punk since I was in elementary school. From then I ended up getting into hardcore then British pop and Shoegaze then jazz to rap to metal to 1960s cheesy music to ska and reggae to French music to Japanese music€¦I pretty much like it all but am not that crazy about Country. Anything interesting and unique. For the past few years I've been a big fan of Real Estate, Mac DeMarco, Kurt Vile, Lotus Plaza, etc. and been lucky enough to meet many of the musicians at shows here in town.

Movies I enjoy old B&W films (especially old Italian films), Anime, cheesy B-movie kinda stuff. HUGE fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) and even got to see it live. I'm also a huge fan of Rifftrax. 9 times out of 10 I'm watching one of those over the latest blockbuster. I also love the drive-in movie theater. There are a couple here in San Diego.

I love poetry and old beatnik books.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I sold everything in my apartment after college and drove coast to coast by myself to California (about 3000 miles in 4 days!).

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I could literally teach you how to surf in the ocean since I am actually a surf instructor here at the beach. I can definitely talk forever about the art of making beer. I can definitely inform you of all the coolest places in San Diego!

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I know San Diego extremely well and can show you the most beautiful and hidden parts of it.

Pays que j'ai visités

Canada, Italy, Vatican City State
